So I’m not going to lie, I have my own key due to alot of older systems still have the key on the case (dell) I have around 20 cases still. Most of the time the Key on said cases will still work. (as long as you can read them) .

To fix the error saying that you cannot launch the media center, you will need to upgrade your hardware to the best you can use. Otherwise you wouldn’t be able to use it, it’s not because of the operating system.

The Windows Media Center Edition 2005 setup is virtually unmodified and will say ‘Windows XP Professional’ in some places. This can be safely ignored.

IT WORKS!
So I know how people have been saying how the product keys in the comments aren’t working but it isn’t true, they do work. What you need to do first is to disconnect from the internet(that’s because when you type in the product key it pings back to the Microsoft Server to see if it’s a valid product key). Then knowing the product key you can then connect. For more info you can ask me to make a Youtube video
Conclusion: All of the product keys work it’s just that you need to disconnect from the internet so it won’t contact Microsoft. Make sure you have the webpage opened FIRST before connecting to the internet so you can get the product keys. Anyways they work

MISSING DRIVERS
This particular upload is stripped of some less common drivers in order to make room for SP3. This became apparent when the IDE/AHCI drivers for my CF30 weren’t available to install, when in fact ALL XP discs have them! This shouldn’t be a problem for most of you but dang it I should have just got the SP2 one on here and updated it later. Sheesh the guys writing these descriptions are idiots.

Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition released on October 29, 2002. Microsoft has included a special application “Windows Media Center” in this edition. Besides this, new version of Windows Movie Maker and Windows Media Player are packed in this edition.

How to install Windows XP from USB/CD

Make sure you have Win XP installation USB disc with you. Plug this flash drive into USB port of computer, then start (or restart) computer and follow these steps:
- Press boot menu key (usually F9 for most computers) and select USB drive from the list.
- Press any key on your keyboard when prompted.
- Windows installation files will take a while to load and Windows XP installer setup will start.
Windows XP Setup (files copying and installation)
- Wait for some time and EULA / License Agreement will appear. Press F8 key to accept and continue.
- Choose the partition where you want to install Windows XP. This is somehow a tricky step, so take care while selecting drive.
- Windows XP setup will start copying files to disk. This will take some time and then installer will restart the computer.
- After restart, different screens will appear and you have to choose appropriate options and enter required information.

How to install Windows XP Pro on Virtual Machines?
For some reason, if you want to install Win XP on virtual machines like VirtualBox or VMware etc. Here is a brief guide for these type of applications.
How to install Windows XP on VirtualBox?
First of all, download VirtualBox for Win XP (if you do not have it already).
- Download Windows XP ISO image from download section (above on top of this page)
- Launch VirtualBox and start creating new virtual machine.
- Now select Windows XP ISO image and accept default settings.
- Start virtual machine you just created and continue with Windows XP setup installer.
Installation on VirtualBox is almost same to normal installation on real computer.

Windows XP Media Center Edition was released on October 29, 2002 to public, it was a special edition that included a special media player application called Windows Media Center (made by Microsoft). The entire operating system is based on Windows XP Professional, which means that it has all the features of Professional Edition, some new features are also included like a new version of Windows Media Player and Movie Maker.
General information from Windows XP
Windows XP has a lot of updates in the user interface (compared to Windows ME and 2000), making it easier to use and navigate through files and programs. The appearance of windows shell elements such as desktops, taskbar, start menu, get a better design with transparent icons and shadow drops. The Start menu gets two columns, and now it is completely customizable by the user. Windows Explorer also gets new features and changes, like task pane (useful file actions shown in the left hand sidebar), file thumbnails, sorting, grouping etc.
Windows XP includes performance improvements such as fast boot / logon / logoff, fast application launch, CPU simultaneous multithreading, new NTFS version NTFS v3.1 and so on.

Installation instructions

Windows XP — одна из главных прорывных разработок компании Microsoft. На момент своего выхода считалась лучшей операционной системой для ПК.
В работе системы лежала многозадачность и удобство в работе. Создатели полностью сменили дизайн с прошлых версий, добавили плавности линий и прозрачности выводимых меню, текст стал легче к восприятию за счёт технологии ClearType. Новый интерфейс получил название Luna.
Изменилась концепция пользовательского вида: теперь вся внутренняя архитектура стала построена на быстром доступе к подсказкам и помощи. Работа с папками и файлами осуществлялась на базе автоматизированного механизма Webview, который предлагал пользователю все действия с объектами и показывал их свойства.
Кнопка «Пуск» вызывала рабочее меню с наиболее используемыми программами. Остальные установленные программы визуально группировались системой по логическому алгоритму задач. Стал проще переход на новый компьютер: все настройки и документы можно было перенести через мастера переноса. ОС самостоятельно искала новое оборудование и ставила к нему драйвера через технологию Plug&Play.
Разработчики сделали систему, поддерживающую многопользовательский доступ с возможностью сохранения всего сеанса в учётной записи. Эта функция называлась Fast User Switching.
Для удобства пользователей авторы попытались собрать под одну оболочку самые востребованные программы. В XP появилась запись дисков CD и DVD форматов. Система поддерживала распаковку ZIP-архивов через Extraction Wizard. Также были предустановлены проигрыватель Windows Media Player и видеоредактор Movie Maker. Windows XP имела штатный приёмщик факса.
Появился режим гибернации — компьютер уходил в «спящее» состояние с пониженным потреблением энергии, а после включения пользователь мог продолжить работу с того места, на котором закончил до включения режима.
Для безопасности был интегрирован сетевой экран — Internet Connection Firewall, с целью контроля входящего трафика. И проверять сторонние ПО на цифровой сертификат издателя, а так же разрешить или ограничить в правах любой софт.
Система работала гораздо быстрее своих предшественников, как по загрузке, так и по общей производительности, при этом требования к начинке ПК не сильно изменились.
Поддержка и выход обновлений полностью прекратились в 2014 году. Windows XP имела 2 версии: для дома и бизнеса, серверная платформа была создана отдельно.
