Put gameux.dll and gameuxlegacygdfs.dll into System32 3. Put gameux.dll.mui into System32\en-us 4. Put gameuxmig.dll into System32\Migration 5. Put files from 32bit.7z into Syswow64 6. Import all the .reg files using TrustedInstaller CMD 7. You can only open it with: shell:::{ED228FDF-9EA8-4870-83b1-96b02CFE0D52} 8. Adding stuff works properly:
The icon being gone is an issue on 1809 and up. It used to be in imageres.dll |

Then, you need to merge it in your Windows 10 1803 (or above) OS. Note, that when importing, it is normal for you to get errors for some of the files, it is safe to ignore. After that, you can open Game Explorer with shell:::{ed228fdf-9ea8-4870-83b1-96b02cfe0d52} (shell:games may work, but if it doesn’t use the command mentioned before) I did all the steps correctly but it didn’t work. I don’t know what the problem with my computer is. The only error I did was do the regsvr32 after merging the registry items and changing the dlls, but I did a restore point and did the process correctly. It still does not work. I am running Windows 10 21H1 x64. EDIT: It turns out that some of the registry entries (including the most important one, {ED228FDF-9EA8-4870-83b1-96b02CFE0D52}, which contains the bulk of the data), said they merged fine but they are nowhere to be found! I’m currently manually adding them back in. |

It is possible to restore Game Explorer on Windows 10, albeit with issues. To do this, get gameux.dll, gameuxlegacygdfs.dll, and gameux.dll.mui, and replace the ones in your installation’s system32 folder. Then, run regsvr32 gameux.dll in an Administrator command prompt then reboot the PC. Just tested this on 1903. Adding new games to it by dragging it on the window seems to work fine for me. The issue with the Games icon being blank can be fixed by getting a copy of imageres.dll from 1709 and exporting icon 14 from it and putting it in the system’s imageres.dll (imageres.dll.mun on 1903+) |
