Итак, Enterprise целиком оптимизирована для комфортной/безопасной работы в локалке, поэтому при наличии знаний/умений вы сумеете создать гибко настраиваемую сеть ПК – в организациях или даже дома. Специализированный функционал данной редакции полностью обеспечивает все требования и пожелания к операционной системе для корпоративной среды использования.

Что касается Pro для рабочих станций, то вообще-то – это самая подходящая редакция в плане поддержки очень мощного компьютерного оборудования, т.к. обеспечит поддержку до 4-х процессоров и плюс к ним 6 ТБ памяти. Но для домашних пользователей эти функциональные сверхвозможности обычно не нужны.

Повышенная защита бизнес-редакций
Если не отключать Защитник, то такую Виндовс угробить не так-то и просто – даже дремучему чайнику. Десятую Windows вообще довольно сложно сломать, потому что у нее есть защита от дурака, и многие настройки она не держит на виду. У десятки как бы многоуровневый интерфейс управления, поэтому этой системой на нормальном железе вполне довольны и домохозяйки, и профессиональные сисадмины. Неопытные юзеры, как правило, сносят Виндовс, если она вдруг «начинает медленно работать», но в действительности система просто может выполнять ту или иную задачу по своему расписанию.
Естественно, что ставить самые полноценные версии Win 10 2004 на слишком старые или самые бюджетные новые ПК не стоит – тем, кто хочет наблюдать максимальное возможное быстродействие. Еще очень желательно использование SSD, чтобы система радовала вас самой высокоскоростной загрузкой в несколько секунд. Защита данных и самой системы будет самой высокой – насколько вообще возможно для систем Microsoft. -Не рекомендуем использование всех твикеров подряд, т.к. нужно иметь представление о том, что именно вы настраиваете в оригинале, и какие нюансы могут быть у этой настройки.
-Не обязательно как-либо настраивать стандартную конфигурацию и что-то в ней менять. Без знаний лучше базовую систему не конфигурировать, основные настройки – вполне надежные.
-Встроенный Defender – весьма надежный защитник. В рейтинге лучших антивирусов он вполне заслуженно оказался. Так что искать какой-то другой платный антивирус – не обязательно.
-Когда вы переустанавливаете систему, проявляйте аккуратность при работе с разделами, убедитесь, что нет важных данных на тех дисках, которые вы собрались отформатировать или удалить.
-Рекомендованный активатор – очень надежный и очень безопасный. Но советуем выключить антивирусную защиту, пока вы его будете использовать. Ее потом опять можно включить. Microsoft борется с пиратством и ее Защитник не приемлет активаторы, попавшие в базы.
-Установив систему, постарайтесь тут же обновить все приложения Store, если вы ими пользуетесь, чтобы все работало как надо.

The reality is starting to set in that future releases of Windows 10 might not support older computers. Microsoft confirmed the Creators Update and Fall Creators Update will not work on computers using the Intel Clovertrail Atom processors. The company instead is planning to support version 1607 – also called the Anniversary Update – on such devices until January 2023. Hardware vendors such as Dell, HP, and Lenovo currently maintain databases of systems that support a particular Feature Update or not.

Many users embraced the software as a service model promoted by Microsoft during its early launch, expecting new versions of the OS to be smooth sailing. It has turned out to be quite the opposite in many cases. Which brings us to the subject at hand—how do you obtain older releases of Windows 10 that do support your hardware and applications? It turns out, your options might be limited, but let’s investigate.

How to Download Older Releases of Windows 10

When Microsoft launches a new version of Windows 10, the software firm discards older releases in all its distribution channels which includes: Windows Update, Media Creation Tool, Windows Upgrade Assistant and the Software Downloads page.

Starting with the Creators Update, the company still hosts ISO files for Windows 10 1607 because a wider range of new systems still support it. Application compatibility can be an obvious reason why you want to stick with older releases, too. But what if you are running version 1511 or 1507 then you upgrade to either 1607, 1703 or 1709; and it turns out your system doesn’t work as well it used to? You will need a way to go back to the older version to at least have a functioning system. You can rollback a Windows 10 upgrade, but you have to decide to roll back within 30 days of upgrading.

MSDN and Volume License Service Center

Let’s start off with the expensive options for obtaining older releases. If you subscribe to one of Microsoft’s commercial licensing programs such as Volume Licensing or the Microsoft Software Developer Network, you do have the option to download older releases. MSDN, for instance, keeps versions as far back as the initial release.

MSDN is an expensive option, so is Volume Licensing, which is more appropriate for large organizations. If you do have access to either though, it’s one of the first options to consider.

I mentioned earlier that the Microsoft Software Download Page has started hosting older versions of Windows 10 as far back as 1607. It’s a start, but it might just be what you need if the Anniversary Update – which Microsoft plans to support until 2023 – supports your hardware and applications.

Create a Recovery Drive on an Existing System Running 1507 or 1511

It turns out if your system came with a particular version of Windows 10 preinstalled, the recovery partition – which stores the reinstall files for Windows 10 – does not get updated when new Feature Updates are installed. All you need to do is find a system running an older version of Windows 10, then create a Windows 10 recovery drive. Keep in mind, recovery drives can only perform clean installations.

Third Party Website

Microsoft no longer hosts older versions such as 1507 or 1511, that’s perfectly clear. But that doesn’t stop third party websites from taking the liberty of doing so. The website, windowsiso.net keeps a repository of all releases of Windows 10 as far back as the first release. Users can download Windows 10 1507, 1511, 1607 and 1703 in both 32 bit and 64-bit architectures and languages. The site stands behind its downloads by pointing to verified MD5/SHA1 hashes taken from Microsoft.

If you choose to go this route, you can download the ISO file then verify its integrity using the Slavasoft’s HashCalc MD5/SHA1 verifier covered in our previous article. It’s a convenient option if you do need that older release.

Torrent Anyone?

Torrents can sound like a bad word most of the time, but sometimes, it’s a valid one when others have been exhausted. No doubt, users should proceed with caution. When downloading ISO files from a torrent for older versions of Windows 10, you will need to verify the integrity of what you downloaded. An ISO file could easily be injected with malicious code, so, it is recommended you check the MD5/SHA1 in addition to scanning the contents of ISO file after downloading. But, consider this option as an extreme last resort.

So, those are your options if you desperately need those older reasons for one reason or another. Another option I almost forgot to mention, if you know a trusted friend or family member who might have a backup copy, you can use that too. Remember, Microsoft has dropped support for these older releases. This means they are subject to attacks that Microsoft has no intention of fixing.

There are some other editions like Enterprise LTSC and a few others but these editions are not a part of regular release. Microsoft sometimes releases these editions and sometimes skips them. Microsoft has not released Windows 10 Ultimate Edition just like Windows 7 Ultimate. It might never release because there was no ultimate edition released for Windows 8 as well.

Windows 10 Home

Download via Windows 10 Media Creation Tool

Microsoft has launched Media Creation Tool for Windows 10 download and upgrade. You can upgrade your existing Windows OS using the upgrade option. It will save your existing Windows files to recover in the future (if needed) and upgrade to the latest version of Windows 10 while keeping your apps, documents, and personal files in the same place and condition as those were before the upgrade.

Alternatively, you can download the latest ISO file or create bootable installation media of Windows 10 using Media Creation Tool. Downloading Windows 10 ISO files is a more flexible option because you can save ISO file and use it in various ways; like mounting ISO to upgrade Windows 10 or creating a bootable USB/DVD from ISO files using Rufus or your favorite Windows ISO to USB creator tool.

How to install Windows 10 from USB/DVD

Once you have created the ultimate Windows 10 bootable USB using the Rufus of any other tool (as mentioned above), you are ready to install Windows 10 using this USB flash drive.

Make sure you have Win 10 installation USB disc with you. Plug this flash drive into the USB port of the computer, then start (or restart) the computer and follow these steps:

• Press the boot menu key (usually F9 for most computers) and select the USB drive from the list.
• Press any key on your keyboard when prompted.
• Windows installation files will take a while to load and Windows 10 installer setup will start.

Prepare your computer for Win 10 Installation

Now you are in installation setup. Follow further steps to start and finish the installation process.

• Choose language, time and currency format, keyboard, or input method for your computer.
• Press Next button
• Press the Install Now button to start installation at this stage.
• Wait a few seconds while setup begins.
• Windows license terms dialog box will appear. Check the box with the label I accept the license terms and press the Next button.

Windows 10 Setup (files copying and installation)

Now setup will start copying Windows files, expanding files, features installation, and installing updates included in the ISO file. This process will take a while (about 10-30 minutes) to finish and then your computer will restart automatically.

Next, Windows will start for the first time after installation. Just wait again while Windows 10 setup updates registry files and starts services.

Setup will finalize the installation process and restarts your computer again.

The actual setup of Windows 10 installation is complete here. But you still have to configure things before you can actually start using Windows.

Windows 10 Basic Configuration (after setup)

This time, after a restart, setup will prepare your computer for first use, check video performance, and a few other things.

Next, a dialog box will appear where you can enter a username and computer name.

The next screen will ask you to enter a password to log in to Windows 10. This is optional. You can skip the password by leaving boxes blank and pressing the Next button.

The next dialog box will ask you to enter Windows 10 Product Key. Well, this is also kind of an optional step. You can enter the key if you have one or skip this step and press next to continue to install Windows 10 without the product key.

Now on the next screen, choose an update option out of the following 3 options:

1. Use recommended settings (to install all updates)
2. Install important updates only (to install only security and critical updates)
3. Ask me later (do not enable automatic updates)

Next, set your time and date settings. Choose the Time zone and the setup will try to automatically set the time and date according to your country’s standard time. If it does not, you can set the time and date manually.

In the next screen, choose a network type. Home Network is usually appropriate for most users. Press next and Windows will try to connect to your chosen network.

Almost done, Windows will prepare your desktop. This is also an automated step. Just wait a few seconds and your fresh Windows 10 desktop will appear in front of you.

All done. Just feel the delight and start using Windows 10 edition.

How to install Windows 10 on Virtual Machines?

For some reason, if you want to install Win 10 on virtual machines like VirtualBox or VMware etc. Here is a brief guide for these types of applications.

How to install Windows 10 on VirtualBox?

First of all, download VirtualBox for Win 10 (if you do not have it already).

1. Download Windows 10 ISO image from the download section (above on top of this page)
2. Launch VirtualBox and start creating a new virtual machine.
3. Now select Windows 10 ISO image and accept default settings.
4. Start the virtual machine you just created and continue with Windows 10 setup installer.

Installation on VirtualBox is almost the same as normal installation on a real computer.
