Returns the user index of the emulated Xenon device. This value correspondents to the
(zero-based) index number representing the player number via LED present on a

Starting with this release the PowerShell-way of distribution is officially deprecated and will be put offline soon. Every new release will appear on GitHub. No need to uninstall older revisions, the setup will take care of that including the removal of multiple instances.
Update 10.05.2019: version ViGEmBus_Setup_1.16.115.exe is a hotfix setup resolving an issue causing the installation to fail on Windows 7 under certain circumstances, the included driver is still version 1.16.112.0 (17th of October 2018).

- Go to the official GitHub page for ViGEmBus and download the installer.
- Double-click the executable file to start the installation and click on Next.
- Agree to the terms and hit the Next button again.
- Finally, click on Install.
- To check if it was installed properly, right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.
- Scroll down and expand the System devices section.
- Now, scroll down again and you will see the Nefarius Virtual Gamepad Emulation Bus present. And if you double-click on it you should see that it’s working properly under Device status.
- If you change your mind and want to remove the tool, click the Search option, type vigem, and click on the installer from the results.
- Hit Next, and then select Remove to uninstall it from your PC.
However, you should know that this is not all. You should now look for the emulator of your choice for ViGEm-based devices.
With a simple Google search, we found an Xbox 360 controller emulator perfect for the ViGEmBus driver but you may find the one you need.
Also, some of the game controller emulators, such as DS4 Windows, come with the ViGEmBus driver bundled so it might be easier to proceed that way as well.
So, that’s the most simple ViGEmBus driver download method for Windows 11, but as we mentioned, it also works on Windows 10 and ARM64 versions.
Is the ViGEmBus driver update safe?
