Getting Started:

Free View:

Mounting Warning:
Always mount the eye tracker to a monitor/laptop using the adhesive Magnetic Mounting Brackets (if applicable). Failure to do so may damage the monitor or bracket and could cause injuries to a person or property.
During the initial setup, the Tobii Experience Driver will start mapping your eyes. This is done by first identifying which monitor the eye tracker is attached to and then using the mapping screen to locate each individual pupil on the monitor. The mapping screen also shows the simulated field of vision and provides an overview of your current eye-tracking setup.

За всё время существования видеоигр инженеры придумали множество разных гаджетов, которые должны были сделать процесс удобнее или усилить погружение. Причудливые контроллеры, обогреватели для рук и кресла с вибрацией сейчас можно найти разве что только в забавных «Топ 10» на YouTube, а исключений, получивших реальное практическое применение, совсем немного.
Когда в 2015 году я впервые услышал про Tobii Eye Tracker, то отнесся к нему как к очередному интересному, но нежизнеспособному устройству. Отслеживание взгляда — как это вообще может пригодиться игроку? Тем не менее, трекер регулярно обновляется, его встраивают в игровые ноутбуки и мониторы, а база совместимых игр постоянно растет.
Установка
Устроен Tobii Eye Tracker 4C просто. Внутри него есть две камеры и инфракрасные светодиоды — система следит за направлением взгляда и определяет часть монитора, в которую смотрит пользователь.
Благодаря инфракрасной подсветке устройством можно спокойно пользоваться в темноте, а помешать Tobii могут лишь сильно бликующие очки или яркий солнечный свет. Тем не менее, ни у одного из моих носящих очки друзей проблем не возникло.
В комплекте с Tobii Eye Tracker идёт инструкция и две магнитные полоски на липкой ленте. Установить устройство просто: магнитная полоска приклеивается на нижнюю рамку монитора, затем к ней прикрепляется трекер, который подключается к компьютеру по USB.
Проблема может возникнуть только если на рамке вашего монитора есть выступы и ровно прикрепить трекер к ней не получится. Поэтому лучше продумать этот момент перед установкой — сначала убедиться, что устройство «увидит» вас, и только потом приклеивать магнитную полоску.
После этого нужно настроить трекер в специальной программе, которая скачивается с сайта Tobii. Это несложно — достаточно посмотреть на несколько точек на экране и всё.
В том, что устройство готово к работе, можно убедиться не заходя в игру: если нажать Alt+Tab, Windows покажет все открытые окна, переключаться между которыми можно будет взглядом. Также советую настроить Windows Hello — что-то вроде FaceID на ПК. С его помощью для разблокировки компьютера достаточно будет просто посмотреть на камеру.
Больше возможностей
Tobii Eye Tracker поддерживается более чем в сотне игр: от инди до недавних ААА проектов. Например, в Kingdom Come: Deliverance компас или карта появляются только когда игрок на них смотрит. Пока разработчики игр стараются минимизировать интерфейсы, Tobii позволяет скрывать их полностью в большинстве поддерживаемых игр.
Есть и обратная функция «Взаимодействие взглядом» — она подсвечивает интерактивные объекты игрового окружения. Вместо того, чтобы наводить курсор на нужную вещь в Life if Strange: Before The Storm, достаточно на неё просто посмотреть.
С Tobii бои в играх от третьего лица становятся чуть проще, потому что устройство позволяет фокусироваться на врагах взглядом — на кого смотрю, того и бью. Гораздо проще, чем переключаться между противниками мышью или стиком.
Особенно радует появление этой функции в Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition. Однажды я чуть вслух не закричал из-за того, что Ноктис отказывался телепортироваться на нужную мне возвышенность, — туда просто не наводился прицел. Tobii решает эту проблему, а также помогает метать в противников заклинания.
В шутерах благодаря похожей механике удобнее целиться. Увидел противника, нажал на кнопку прицеливания и оружие тут же направляется в нужную сторону. Очень помогает в Warhammer: Vermintide 2, где нужно «выцеливать» особых врагов. Не стоит путать эту функцию с читами вроде auto-aim — быстро навестись трекер поможет, но держать прицел на враге и компенсировать отдачу придётся самому.
Практически во всех поддерживающих Tobii играх есть функция «Расширение взгляда». Это незначительная, но приятная «фича» — когда взгляд достигает края экрана, камера немного смещается, открывая дополнительный угол обзора.
Если в экшенах Tobii полезен, то в стратегиях просто незаменим. В них нужно постоянно перемещаться по карте — взглядом это делать гораздо удобнее. А в Shadow Tactics, например, можно увидеть область внимания врага просто посмотрев на него.
Также трекер может отслеживать поворот головы — пригодится фанатам космических симуляторов вроде EVE Valkyrie или Elite: Dangerous, где игрок сидит в кабине звездолёта.
Иногда из-за яркого солнца в Assassins Creed: Origins не получается разглядеть темные участки экрана. С Tobii игра знает, куда вы смотрите, и меняет яркость, ориентируясь на ваш взгляд.
Это лишь некоторые примеры возможностей устройства — разработчики могут сами придумывать сценарии использования и экспериментировать как им захочется. В таком контексте Far Cry 5, который будет поддерживать Tobii Eye Tracker, мне особенно интересен: насколько удобно будет отдавать напарникам приказы взглядом и станет ли легче прицеливание из самолёта?
У Tobii Eye Tracker есть и более неожиданные области применения. Например, стримы и киберспорт. Из-за кружочка, который видно на наших гифках, зрители будут знать, куда смотрит стример, что значительно упростит коммуникацию с ними. Кроме того, есть видео, где с помощью Tobii Eye Tracker демонстрируется скорость реакции киберспортсменов — гайды по Counter-Strike или PUBG, созданные с использованием трекера, будут гораздо нагляднее обычных.
Не меньше пользы отслеживание взгляда может принесли в VR-устройствах. Tobii анонсировала совместный проект с Qualcomm для создания мобильных шлемов виртуальной и дополненной реальности с отслеживанием взгляда. Это позволит устройствам экономить вычислительные ресурсы, детализируя только ту область окружения, на которую смотрит игрок.
Похожую технологию анонсировала только компания Samsung — прототип VR-шлема с отслеживанием взгляда был показан год назад на закрытой презентации, и с тех пор новостей о нём не поступало.
К Tobii Eye Tracker 4C сложно придраться. Устройство работает так, как должно: правильно определяет направление взгляда — даже в темноте или через очки — и без задержки передаёт информацию в игру. Возможности, которые открывает трекер, не жизненно необходимы, но отказаться от них непросто — всё-таки игры становятся удобнее.
Тем не менее, минусы есть. Цена в 11 500 рублей отпугнёт многих геймеров, которые скорее потратят эти деньги на новую мышь или клавиатуру. С другой стороны, вместе с трекером часто бесплатно отдают новые игры с поддержкой Tobii — например, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, если покупать устройство через магазин «Буки».
Кроме того, Tobii не получится использовать, сидя перед телевизором, — человек находится слишком далеко от экрана. Также устройство нельзя подключить к консоли. Но стоит отдельно отметить, что с изогнутым монитором диагональю 32 дюйма трекер работает без нареканий.
И самое главное: надо понимать, что устройство будет работать не с каждым релизом. Библиотека игр растёт, но пока в ней всего 120 игр, так что перед покупкой лучше внимательно изучить список. Фанатам Ubisoft и Square Enix тут повезло — во многих крупных релизах издательств есть поддержка Tobii Eye Tracker.
