Windows 2000 was a modernization of Windows NT 4.0 which brought many of the desktop changes, including Active Desktop, to Microsoft’s Windows NT line. Four editions of Windows 2000 were released, Professional, Server, Advanced Server, Datacenter Server. Improvements over NT 4.0 include new Accessibility Options, increased language and locale support, NTFS 3.0, the Encrypting File System and Active Directory. Windows 2000 was first planned to replace both Windows 98 and Windows NT 4.0 although using the NT kernel for consumer and professional editions would not happen until Windows 2000’s successor, Windows XP.
Read below or select a release version to get information and downloads for Windows 2000 Professional, Windows 2000 Server, Windows 2000 advanced server and BETA copies of Windows 2000 from WinWorld.

These were pretty common and the builds issued via the corporate preview program are all on the ftp as far as I know.
The above is the one I have here, has Beta 3 and RC2 pro/server builds for x86 and an RC1 pro/server for Dec Alpha.

This is Windows 2000 Beta 3 build 1983.1 in VMware Workstation Pro. This is a Beta 3 that was compiled on 1999-02-18 and expires 444 days after the original installation date.
How I got this to run:
Set backwards compatibility with VMware Workstation version 6.5-7.0.
Set VM to Windows NT (or else it will freeze on “Setup is starting Windows”)
Add this line to the .VMX to disable ACPI:
acpi.present = “FALSE”
If running on an AMD Ryzen host with the VME bug, add this line to the VMX:
cpuid.80000001.edx.amd = “—-:—-:—-:—-:—-:—-:—-:–0-”
Memory: 256 MB
Hard Drive: 4 GB [IDE] (IDE is required)
When you get to the blue setup screen you set the partitions, be sure to keep pressing F5 and select Standard PC.
VMware Tools version:
6.5.2 for display
6.5 for audio
Do not install the system devices or else you will get a BSoD and the build will never start properly.
