Activation helps verify that your copy of Windows is genuine and hasn’t been used on more devices than the Microsoft Software License Terms allow. This article will help you troubleshoot and fix common activation errors in Windows.

If you’re having trouble activating Windows 11, follow these steps to fix activation errors:

Confirm that your device is up to date and running Windows 11. In the search box on the taskbar, type winver, and then select Winver from the list of results. You’ll see the version and build of Windows.

If you’re still getting an error, check the list of error codes below and follow the suggested steps to resolve it.
Make sure the error hasn’t changed. Sometimes when you run the Activation troubleshooter or try to activate, the error code and message will change. If the error code has changed, look up the new code below and follow the recommended steps. (If you’re getting an error code that isn’t listed on this page, contact customer support.)

Try the Activation troubleshooter

If you’re running Windows 11, the Activation troubleshooter might help reactivate Windows if you recently made a significant hardware change (such as replacing the motherboard) or reinstalled Windows.

The following are some of the most common activation errors with possible solutions for Windows 11. If you’re getting an error code that isn’t listed on this page, contact customer support.

Error	What it means and how to fix it
Windows reported that the hardware of your device has changed. 0xC004F211	A Windows license is associated with your device hardware. If you make significant hardware changes, such as replacing your motherboard, Windows won’t be able to find a matching license the next time you start your device. If Windows was preinstalled on the device and you have made a change such as replacing the motherboard, you’ll need a new license. To purchase a new Windows license, Start > Settings > System > Activation , and then select Go to Microsoft Store. Open Activation settings If you have a Windows product key you used on your device before the hardware change, enter it by selecting Start > Settings > System > Activation , and then selecting Change product key. Additionally, Microsoft provides an exception path for transferring a Windows License after a hardware change. You’ll need to be signed in to the same Microsoft account before making the hardware change and to use the exception path. To access this exception path, select Start > Settings > System > Activation , and then select Troubleshoot. If the troubleshooter can’t resolve the issue, you’ll see a link to reactivate after a hardware change. Select it to follow this path. For more info, see Reactivating Windows after a hardware change.
The product key used on this device didn’t work with this edition of Windows. You might need to get in touch with the store or company you bought Windows from, enter a different product key, or go to the Store to buy genuine Windows. 0xC004F212	When you reinstall Windows 11 using a digital license, you’re asked to choose which edition to install. If you choose an edition other than the one you’re licensed to use, you may receive this error. If you think you installed the wrong edition, select Start > Settings > System > Activation , and then select Troubleshoot. If the troubleshooter detects a valid Windows 11 digital license for an edition not currently installed, it will let you know and show you how to install the correct edition. Open Activation settings
Windows reported that no product key was found on your device. 0xC004F213	A Windows license is associated with your device hardware. If you make significant hardware changes, such as replacing your motherboard, Windows won’t be able to find a matching license the next time you start your device. «Your Windows License Will Expire Soon» warning	This may occur if you have a volume license client installed. Windows 11 Pro volume license clients are used by large organizations that deploy Windows 11 to hundreds or thousands of computers. In this situation, activation is typically managed by your organization, and you’ll need to contact your system administrator for assistance. For more info, see Troubleshooting Windows license expiration issues.
0x803f7001	If you see error code 0x803F7001, it means that a valid Windows 11 license couldn’t be found to activate Windows on your device. Here’s how to activate Windows: Select Start > Settings > System > Activation . If you have a valid product key, select Change product key, and then enter the 25-character product key. If you don’t have a valid product key, select Go to Microsoft Store, and follow the instructions to buy a digital license for Windows. Open Activation settings Note: Your product key should be in the confirmation email you received after buying Windows, included with the packaging that came with your device, or on the Certificate of Authenticity (COA) attached to the back or bottom of your device. 0x800704cF	This error means we didn’t find a valid Windows license for your device. You must use a valid product key to activate Windows. Your product key should be in the confirmation email you received after buying Windows, included with the packaging that came with your device, or on the Certificate of Authenticity (COA) attached to the back or bottom of your device. For help finding your product key, see Find your Windows product key. If you have a valid product key, use it to activate Windows: Select Start > Settings > System > Activation . Select Change product key, and then enter the 25-character product key. Open Activation settings If you’ve made a major change to your device’s hardware, such as a motherboard replacement, run the Windows Activation troubleshooter located on the activation settings page. 0xC004C060, 0xC004C4A2, 0xC004C4A2, 0x803FA067L, 0xC004C001, 0xC004C004, 0xC004F004, 0xC004C007, 0xC004F005, 0xC004C00F, 0xC004C010, 0xC004C00E, 0xC004C4A4, 0xC004C4A5, 0xC004B001, 0xC004F010, 0xC004F050	Reasons why you might see these errors: You entered a product key that can’t be used to activate Windows. Enter a different product key or buy a new product key. You upgraded to Windows 11, but the activation servers were busy. If you upgraded from an activated copy of Windows 7 or Windows 8.1, your copy of Windows 11 will be automatically activated, or you can wait a while and then select Activate. If you continue to have problems with activation, contact customer support. You upgraded to Windows 11 using the free upgrade offer, but Windows 11 isn’t activated after a reinstall. Your copy of Windows 11 should automatically be activated as long as you didn’t make any significant hardware changes to your device (such as replacing the motherboard). If you continue to have problems with activation, contact customer support.
0xC004C003	You may see this error because the Windows 11 product key you entered isn’t valid. Product keys are unique—assigned to a specific user to install on a single device. If a key was used (or attempted to be used) on multiple devices, it’s marked as not valid. To activate Windows, you’ll need to provide a different Windows key unique to your device. If you bought a device from a reseller of Windows 11 and expected the key to be valid, contact the reseller. If your device was purchased with Windows 11 preinstalled and you received this activation error upon turning it on for the first time, contact your device manufacturer. If your experience with your device is different from those listed above, try the following: Run the Windows Activation Troubleshooter: Select Start > Settings > System > Activation and then select Troubleshoot. Open Activation settings Check to see if you have a paper copy of your Windows 25-character product key you can enter to activate Windows 11. If your device was recently repaired at an independent repair facility, contact them to see if the repairs require a new Windows 11 license. If the device is new and has never been activated, contact your device manufacturer.
0xC004F034	You might see this error if you entered an invalid product key or a product key for a different version of Windows. Enter a valid product key that matches the version and edition of Windows 11 installed on your device. If Windows is installed on a device that connects to a Key Management Service (KMS) server, contact your organization’s support person for more info about how to activate Windows.
0xC004F210	You might see this error if you entered a product key for a different edition of Windows than the edition installed on your device. You might also see this error if you previously upgraded to Windows 11, but the current edition of Windows installed on your device doesn’t match the edition of your digital license. You can either enter a valid product key that matches the edition of Windows installed on your device or reinstall the edition of Windows 11 that matches your digital license. If your device is running Windows 11 (Version 1607 or later), the Activation troubleshooter can help you install the correct edition of Windows on your device. 0xC004E016, 0xC004F210	You might see this error if you entered a product key for a different version or edition of Windows. For example, a product key for the Enterprise edition of Windows 11can’t be used to activate Windows 11 Home or Windows 11 Core editions. Enter a product key that matches the version and edition of Windows installed on your device or buy a new copy of Windows from the Microsoft Store.
0xC004FC03	You might see this error if you’re not connected to the internet or your firewall settings are preventing Windows from completing the activation process online. Make sure that you’re connected to the internet and your firewall isn’t blocking Windows from activating. If you’re still having problems, try to activate Windows by phone. In the search box on the taskbar, type SLUI 04, select SLUI 04 from the list of results, and then follow the instructions on the screen to activate Windows. Note: If you’re running Windows 11 Pro EDU or Windows 11 Pro for Workstations, you must activate Windows over the internet—phone activation and SLUI 04 can’t be used. 0xC004E028	You might see this error if you try to activate a device that is already in the process of activation. Your device should be activated after the first request is completed.
0x8007267C	You might see this error if you’re not connected to the internet or the activation server is temporarily unavailable. Make sure that you’re connected to the internet and your firewall isn’t blocking Windows from activating.
0xD0000272, 0xC0000272, 0xc004C012, 0xC004C013, 0xC004C014	If the activation server is temporarily unavailable, your copy of Windows will automatically be activated when the service comes back online.
0xC004C008, 0xC004C770, 0x803FA071	You might see this error if the product key has already been used on another device, or it’s being used on more devices than the Microsoft Software License Terms allow. To fix the problem, buy a product key for each one of your devices to activate Windows on them. If you’re using Windows 11, you can buy Windows from the Microsoft Store: Select Start > Settings > Update & Security > Activation . Select Go to Microsoft Store, then follow the instructions to buy Windows 11. Open Activation settings Notes: If you don’t see Go to Microsoft Store on the Activation page, contact your organization’s support person. If you made a substantial hardware changes to your device (such as replacing the motherboard) and you have a valid product key, try to activate Windows by phone. In the search box on the taskbar, type SLUI 04, select SLUI 04 from the list of results, and then follow the instructions on the screen to activate Windows. For more info about reactivating Windows 11 (Version 1607 or later) after a hardware change, see Reactivating Windows after a hardware change. If you’re running Windows 11 Pro EDU or Windows 11 Pro for Workstations, you must activate Windows over the internet—phone activation and SLUI 04 can’t be used. 0xC004F00F	You might see this error if you entered a product key for the Enterprise edition of Windows to activate Windows 11 Home or Windows 11 Pro. Enter a product key that matches the edition of Windows on your device.
0xC004C020	This error occurs when a Volume License (a license that was bought from Microsoft by an organization to install Windows on multiple devices) was used on more devices than the Microsoft Software License Terms allow. To fix the problem, you might need to use a different product key to activate Windows on your device. Contact your organization’s support person for more info.
0x8007232B, 0xC004F074, 0xC004F038, 0x8007007B	You might see this error if you entered a product key for the Enterprise edition of Windows to activate Windows 11 Home or Windows 11 Pro. Try entering a product key that matches the edition of Windows on your device. Or, you might see this error if you’re trying to activate your work device but aren’t connected to your workplace’s network. If you’re connected to your work network and still see this error, you might need to change the network settings. Contact your organization’s support person for more info. If your organization doesn’t have a support person, you might need to enter your product key again: Select Start > Settings > System > Activation . Select Change product key, and then type your 25-character product key. Open Activation settings You might be asked for an admin password or to confirm your choice.
0x80072F8F	You might see this error if the date and time for the device is incorrect, or Windows has trouble connecting to the online activation service and can’t verify your product key. To verify the date and time, select Start > Settings > Time & language > Date & time. Verify date and time in Settings To check your internet connection: In the search box on the taskbar, type network troubleshooter, then select Identify and repair network problems from the list of results. Follow the instructions to fix any problems with the network. If the network troubleshooter didn’t find any problems with your network connection, try restarting your device to see if that fixes the problem.
0xC004E003	You might see this error after installing third-party software that changed system files. Windows activation needs certain system files to complete activation. You can try to restore the system files back to an earlier point in time. This removes any software you installed after that point in time without affecting your personal files. For more info, see the section about how to restore from a system restore point in Recovery options in Windows.
0x80004005	Select Start > Settings > Update & Security > Activation , and then select Troubleshoot to run the Activation troubleshooter. For more info about the troubleshooter, see Using the Activation troubleshooter. Open Activation settings If this doesn’t work, you might need to reset your device. For more info, see the section in Recovery options in Windows.
0x87e10bc6	An error occurred with our activation server or licensing service. Please wait a few minutes and then try the following Windows 11 Pro License Recovery steps: Select Start > Settings > System > Activation , and then select Troubleshoot to run the Activation troubleshooter. Open Activation settings When the troubleshooter is complete, select Go to Microsoft Store to launch the Microsoft Store app. If the Microsoft Store app shows there was a problem, select Try again. After a few minutes, you should see a message that thanking you for activating genuine Windows, followed by another message showing that Windows was activated. 0x80070652	This error can occur if the update components are missing or corrupted on the computer. This error might also occur due to poor network connectivity received by the system. Use the Windows update troubleshooter to check for the corrupted or missing updates or components. Running the troubleshooter will help find and in some cases fix the issue. Also, check the strength of your internet connection.
All other error codes	Go to Windows Help, enter the error code in the Search for Help box at the top-right, and run the search. Browse through the search results carefully to make sure you try only those that apply to your situation.

Paste the new product key to solve the 0XC004F213 error.

7] Contact a Microsoft support Agent

In case, you fail to solve the activation erroneousness then the last option is to contact a Microsoft support agent. If necessary they can facilitate remote activation for the affected PC.

8] Check Date and time Settings

Occasionally, incorrect date & time settings also lead to throwing this error after installing a new update on Windows 10. Selection of the wrong options there doesn’t allow the activation server to identify the correct machine. Hence, review all the settings carefully and correct if anything wrong and restart your PC to see if the error is vanished now.

Press – Windows logo key.
Select the Settings cog.
Click – Time & Language.
Go to the right pane of the subsequent settings page and see if the Time zone is accurate.
Check the other settings and change as per your preferences.

9] Correct network problem

Я боролся с этой же проблемой, пытаясь установить Windows 10 на Mac с помощью BootCamp. Оказывается, я скачал не ту версию Windows 10 ISO-у меня была версия x86, а не x64.

Причем не важно, запускаете ли Вы чистую установку или пытаетесь обновить ранее установленную систему на виртуалку.

Для решения необходимо зайти в настройки виртуальной машины и отключить дисковод на 3,5 дюйма. В VmWare Player нужные настройки выглядят так:

После этого установка Windows 10 пройдет нормально, ошибка будет исправлена.

Здравствуйте! В общем проблема та же. только я пытаюсь создать загрузочную флешку с xp, 7, и двумя ISO WIN 10 х32 х64b + еще winxPE, acronis и тэстовые проги типа MHDD MEMTEST и т.д. Все работает кроме двух образов с WIN 10 выходит эта самая ошибка

Попробуйте в образах win10 найти и удалить файл ответов для автоустановки Windows, он называется unattend или как-то так с расширением txt или xml

Я же написал, что адекватных ответов не нашел, а вы мне из гугла первые ссылки пихаете! У меня не виртуалка, у меня НЕТ ДИСКОВОДА ВООБЩЕ АПРИОРИ, даже контроллера такого не предусмотрено на MSI Mortar Arctic.

В BIOS дисковод есть (прописан)?

Все, закрыли тему. Версия 1809 устанавливается. Видимо в 1803 нет какого-то драйвера и винда не видит установочный носитель.

Тут на днях исправленный ноябрьский намечается, а они косячный сентябрьский пихают. Хотя это ваше дело, что и как там устанавливать.

Дисковод (типа 3.5) в BIOS и есть тот самый DVD привод. Отключил бы его перед установкой, то и забытый диск от материнки не пришлось бы вынимать. Вкурил?

Тебе сам привод (дисковод) мешал при установке Win 10 с флешки. Сам же пишешь, что диск там забытый болтался. Отключил бы свой привод в BIOS и пошла бы загрузка 1803

Сами образы что 1803, что 1809 тут вообще не при делах.

Создание файла ответов произведем в диспетчере установки Windows, который входит в состав пакета Windows ADK для Windows 10. Переходим по ссылке:

Запускаем установочный файл и выполняем установку. Далее

Принимаем лицензионное соглашение

Выбираем Средства развертывания

Установка средств развертывания

На обслуживающем компьютере создана папка Win10 в которую скопировано содержимое установочного образа Windows 10 Enterprise Technical Preview (x64)

Запускаем Диспетчер установки Windows от имени администратора

Откроется главное окно Диспетчера установки

В диспетчере установки начинаем работу с выбора образа Windows

Переходим в папку Win10 в которой находится содержимое установочного образа Windows 10 Enterprise Technical Preview, далее идем в папку Sources и выбираем файл install.wim

Нажимаем Да, для создания файла каталога

После того, как файл каталога будет создан, в окне Образ Windows появятся две папки: Components и Packages. Работать будем с папкой Components

Выбираем Новый файл ответов

Открываем папку Components, ищем строку Microsoft-Windows International Core WinPE neutral и добавляем ее в состав прохода Windows PE файла ответов

Заполняем параметры строки Microsoft-Windows International Core WinPE neutral

Заполняем параметры строки SetupUILanguage

В папке Components находим строку Microsoft-Windows-Setup neutral и добавляем ее в проход Windows PE файла ответов

Добавляем новый диск выбрав DiskConfiguration-Вставить новый Disk

Заполняем параметры строки Disk

На жестком диске создадим два раздела (выполняем Вставить новый CreatePartition два раза)

Указываем параметры 1-го раздела: размер 350 мб, тип раздела primary, раздел первый в очереди на создание

Указываем параметры 2-го раздела: 2-й раздел занимает оставшееся пространство жесткого диска, тип primary, раздел находится вторым в очереди на создание

Создаем два новых ModifyPartition (так как раздела тоже два)

Заполняем параметы ModifyPartition 1-го раздела

Заполняем параметры ModifyPartition 2-го раздела

Заполняем параметры строки InstallTo (установку производим на 2-й раздел жесткого диска)

Заполняем параметры строки Userdata

Так как мы с помощью данного файла ответов будем производить установку Windows 10 в редакции Enterprise, указывать ключ не нужно

Добавим строку Microsoft-Windows-IE-InternetExplorer в проход Specialize файла ответов

Заполним параметр Home Page строки Microsoft-Windows-IE-InternetExplorer (указываем домашнюю страницу браузера InternetExplorer)

Добавим строку Microsoft-Windows-Shell-Setup из папки Components в проход Specialize файла ответов

Заполним один параметр строки Microsoft-Windows-Shell-Setup: ComputerName (значение этого параметра выставим знак звездочки, что означает что имя компьютера будет сгенерировано автоматически)

Добавим строку Microsoft-Windows-Shell-Setup в проход oobeSystem файла ответов

Заполняем параметры строки OOBE

Добавляем нового локального пользователя выбрав UserAccounts-LocalAccounts-Вставить новый LocalAccount

Заполняем параметры LocalAccount (создаем учетную запись пользователя Ro8 входящую в группу администраторы)

Заполняем параметры строки Password

Выделяем строку Microsoft-Windows-Shell-Setup и заполняем в ней один единственный параметр

Производим удаление неиспользуемых строк

После удаления неиспользуемых строк производим проверку файла ответов на наличие ошибок и предупреждений

После проверки файла ответов на наличие ошибок и предупреждений выбираем Сохранить файл ответов как….

Сохраняем файл ответов под именем Autounattend

Копируем созданный файл ответов в корень сьемного носителя (например флешки), вставляем флешку в компьютер на который нужно произвести установку windows и загружаем компьютер

Не удается прочитать параметр

из файла ответов для автоматической установки.

Пытаюсь установить 10162 официальный образ на VMware player’е.

Но выскакивает ошибка, перезагрузка, и так по кругу. Предыдущие билды устанавливались нормально. Есть способ решить проблему?

А если такая ошибка появляется при установке с ноутбука (в котором естественно нет гибких дисков).

Образ создан с помощью MediaCreationTool и записан на DVD-диск (всё по-умолчанию), то как быть?

Ищем ключ Windows

Все пользователи, которые сменили свою старую операционную систему на Виндовс 10, либо приобрели новое устройство с «Десяткой» задаются таким вопросом: как узнать ключ своей «винды».

Все очень просто.

Тем, пользователям, у которых раньше был 7 или 8 Виндовс, особенностями системы 10 Виндовс знать нет необходимости.

При первом запуске системы она должна активироваться в автоматическом режиме, если подключена к сети интернет. Если нет, то обновится при наличии Интернет-соединения.

Следует найти пункт: нет ключа активации. Это нужно сделать, если вы делаете обновления через внешний носитель.

Таким образом, активация осуществиться в автоматическом режиме. Она привяжется к учетной записи Майкрософт при помощи уникального идентификатора, который есть в конфигурации каждого компьютера.

Только людям, которые купили рилейт-редакцию надо ввести пароль.

Те, у кого было седьмая или восьмая версия операционной системы, могут просто ввести код, какой у них был при прежней версии.

Активация и их виды

Существует два вида серийных номеров для операционной системы:

По умолчанию «вшит» в память материнской платы. Он называется – ОЕМ-ключ.
В цифровой версии продукта установлен Product Key.

Из-за этого клиенты часто не понимают особенности различия таких систем.

Они будут отличаться, если вы установите новую версию ОС поверх удаленной старой.

Более простой способ определения кода использовался перед выходом десятой версии Виндовс.

На наклейке устройства обратной части корпуса ноутбука либо же компьютера ранее всегда был серийный номер.

Но с запуском цифровой версией ключей эта необходимость отпала.

Проверка активации Виндовс 10

Сразу проверяйте, активирована ли ваша копия перед тем, как начать поиск в системе.

Ключ Виндовс — как его найти

При помощи стандартных инструментов Виндовс, а также с использованием «левых» программ осуществляется поиск данного ключа.

Можно искать такими способами:

извлечение из UEFI;
приложения по сбору данных о системе;
ShowKeyPlus;
программа Product Key;
расширенная командная строка (PowerShell);
скрипт VBS и многие другие. Некоторые из них мы рассмотрим ниже.

Как найти при помощи скрипта.

В визуальном отделе скрипта производится базовая работа, а также результат этой работы.

Если с этой программкой возникнут проблемы, то её, возможно, установить вручную.

Как достать из UEFI?

Для этой цели открывается от имени администратора командная строка.

Комбинацию:

Этот ключ интегрирован в обеспечение Виндовс 10.

Такие действия выполняются при помощи скрипта. Они отображены на скриншите.

Далее включаем управление от имени администратора. Его находим в поисковой строке.

Запуск скрипта

«Set-ExecutionPolicy RemoteSigned» – такую команду прописываем в поле командной строки.

Клавиши Y и «Ввод» нажимаем, чтобы подтвердить запуск команды.

«Import-Module prodect_key.ps1» – после выполнения такой команды импортируется скачанный файл скрипта.

Указываем расширение рs1.

Так будет выглядеть команда, когда ее сохранить на рабочий стол:

Где находить путь файла

25-значный код системы будет указан в строке Installed Key. В отдельный текстовый файл можно сохранить этот код.

Полный путь к файлу пишем перед названием после ввода этой строки:

prodect_key.ps1.

Запуск командной строки

Дальше вызываем специальную команду «Get-WindowsKey», чтобы активировать ключи.

Если система не предложит сохранить ключ в предложенном файле, то придется выполнить его экспорт и детализацию.

Необходимая информация должна появиться в последней строчке командной строки.

ShowKeyPlus

Она отображает ключ системы, который существует на вашем персональном компьютере.

Ключ UEFI способен извлекать информацию с предыдущей версии Виндовс.

Действие доступно, даже если в папке: Windows.old расположены файлы.

Загружаем программу.

Всю необходимая информация появляется при загрузке этой программы.

Функционал программы ShowKeyPlus

Лицензионный ключ, который предназначен для десятой Виндовс: Installed Key.
Если у вас предыдущая версия операционной системы, то показывает ключ прежней Виндовс. Если OEM Key не предоставлен, то появится системное уведомление.

При необходимости вы можете перенести текстовый файл в архив.

Кнопка «save» дает осуществить такое действие.

Существуют также особенности определения ключей Виндовс 10: одни экспортируются с UEFI, иные читают информацию с реестра.

Product Key

Задача программы – отображение в текущей версии Виндовс экспорта Product Key.

С архива запускается эта утилита без установки софта. Ключ программного обеспечения, а также его название вы сможете увидеть в окне после совершения запуска.

Также эту программу можно использовать с другими программными продуктами корпорации Майкрософт.

Извлечение OEM-кода из UEFI

Ключ вшит в UEFI ноутбука или материнской платы, если при приобретении аппарата была установлена Виндовс 10.

Вызываем командную строку:

Это действие необходимо для извлечения ключа.

Пустая строка появляется, если код UEFI отсутствует.

Последовательность символов ОЕМ обычно отличается от используемых ключей активации.

Кроме этого старую версию операционной системы можно восстановить при использовании ОЕМ-ключа.

В ней можно также найти ключи. При ее помощи пользователи смогут найти подробную информацию обо всех элементам устройства.

Также возможно распечатать информацию на своем принтере или сохранить в формате txt или xml.

Step 2. Go to File > Save As > Change the «Save as type» to «All Files».

Step 3. Name the notepad as productkey.vbs.
