Пинболл Space Cadet для Windows вышел в далеком 1995 году, став частью апгрейда для Windows 95. Впоследствии игру выпускали вместе с Windows NT, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000 и Windows XP — она пользовалась такой популярностью, что стала культовой убивалкой времени. Однако с тех пор Microsoft не выпускала пинболл.

Если вам хочется убить часок-другой, то файл Space Cadet можно официально скачать с groovypost.com. Правда стоит учесть, что игра работает в разрешении 640×480 — в те времена 1280×1024 была верхом технологий.

Причина, почему Space Cadet пропал из Windows, до смешного проста — код игры был разработан сторонней компанией и никто в Microsoft не понимал, как он работает. Так как код не включал ни одного комментария, сотрудники Microsoft даже не смогли найти ключевые элементы, вроде детектора столкновений.
Как сообщает PCGamer, файл по ссылке выше был проверен — вирусов и майнеров не обнаружено.

Enjoy a blast from the past with Microsoft 3D Pinball Space Cadet. Here’s a quick tip on getting it downloaded and installed on Windows 11.

If you’re old enough to remember Windows XP, then you no doubt remember all the classic games Microsoft packaged with it, including 3D Pinball Space Cadet. Unfortunately, with the later releases, including the most recent Windows 11, Microsoft dropped most of the built-in games. In a previous article, we explained how to install all your favorite classic Windows games on Windows 10. Today, follow the steps below to install my favorite classic game, 3D Pinball Space Cadet, on the latest version of Microsoft Windows, including Windows 10 and Windows 11.
- First, download the 3D Pinball Space Cadet executable file. You don’t need to extract it; double-click the WinRAR file and click Run.
Editors Note: We’ve tested and confirmed the game works on Windows 8.1 and the latest version of Windows 10, too.
- Install the game in its default location, and it will show up in the Games folder, just like it did in legacy versions of Windows.
- To launch the game, hit the Windows Start button and look under the Games folder.
- Launch the game and relive this Windows classic! Oh, just one more thing: be sure to down the volume if you’re playing at work. This baby is noisy!
3D Pinball Space Cadet works on 32 & 64-bit versions of Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10. I also just tested it on Windows 11, and it works without a hitch! Have fun!

All source ports are technically v2.0RC, not v1.x.
There are no Linux or macOS binaries attached, compile them yourself.
This release was made better with the help of contributors.
