Product: HP 15-bs062st
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)
I recently did a full clean install of Windows 7 Pro (64-bit) on an HP 15-bs062st that was going spare. Apparently this make and model of HP only supports official drivers for Windows 10, but I was able to find acceptable Win7-liking drivers for all but two devices in the device manager: the «Network Controller» and an «unknown device» which may or may not be the accelerometer that lifts the heads off the disk in case you drop the computer or whatever. I am totally unable to get the laptop’s WiFi to notice any local hotspots and I strongly suspect the broken network controller. Can anyone guide me to a Windows 7 driver that likes the Network Controller in this model of laptop? Also, any resources to figure out what this unknown device is would be helpful, just in case my suspicion is wrong and/or it contains something else that’s critical. Can provide further information on request, I just don’t know what y’all need.

Hi:
There is no information online regarding what model wifi adapter your notebook comes with.
Please post the hardware ID for the Network Controller device in the device manager, and then I will post the link to the W7 wifi driver you need.
Use this guide for how to find the hardware ID…
https://www.howtogeek.com/193798/how-to-find-drivers-for-unknown-devices-in-the-device-manager/
If you want to post the hardware ID for the unknown device, I will give you the driver for that too.

Thank you so much for this! My last exclamation marks are gone. That final hotfix never did work—it just scanned for a long time and said that it failed to install. Once I had a working Internet connection I did a full Windows Update and tried that hotfix again, and it failed even harder with an «Installer encountered an error: 0x80240037» message. I assume that the huge Windows Update update made the hotfix redundant? Otherwise the machine seems to be working as expected.

Anytime.
Glad to have been of assistance.
Yes, if you no longer have any problem devices showing up in the device manager, you are good to go.
Apparently, Microsoft has now included that TPM 2.0 hotfix into their W7 updates, because folks always needed that file in the past for that hardware ID.
