    OS: Windows 7

    Done

    1) virus scan (microsoft security essential),

    2) chkdsk,

    3) sfc.

    Havent seen any errors in any of the scans.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Firstly, please let us know what kind of error message was received?

    Meanwhile, you can try the following steps to test the issue.

    1. Manually download and install the update from Download Center in Clean
    Boot Mode

    2. Reset Windows update components

        How do I reset Windows Update components?

    3. Rename the SoftwareDistribution folder.

        To do this, follow these steps:

        1. Open an administrative Command Prompt window.

        2. Run the following commands, and press Enter after each command:

             Net stop wuauserv

             cd %systemroot%

             Ren SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old

             Net start wuauserv

    Then check the updates to see the results.
