Put an end to the daily struggle in the Finder! Finder Windows is a floating panel which gives you instant access to the list of open Finder windows at any time. It solves the daily struggle of trying to reach the desired folders among the ever changing mess of open windows. Now you can just glimpse at the list and select the desired window. Or instantly close the ones you don’t need anymore.
Finder Windows is an ideal tool if you:
- use Mac’s Finder on a regular basis
- always have several – or tons of – Finder windows open
- don’t use Finder tabs (which you find inconvenient or useless for file management)
- keep reaching for the Finder’s Windows menu wondering why things can’t be easier than that
Now you can always see the list of open folders and reach the desired one instantly. Try it for yourself and see how Finder Windows makes the whole difference in simplifying your Finder operations.

It’s okay to use a PC alongside your Mac, but you’ll find that some of the best macOS features aren’t available in Windows. One of those is Finder’s awesome preview function, but you don’t have to live without it. QuickLook is a free app that brings the same preview feature to Windows 10’s File Explorer. Microsoft has adopted a bunch of macOS features over the years, such as Continuum and the new notification center in Windows 10. But it didn’t get around to stealing Finder’s wonderful preview mode. This allows you to click on any file and hit the space bar to preview it without actually opening it. It’s perfect for finding documents and photos that you didn’t name properly. And now you can add it to Windows 10 yourself. “It works just like the macOS Quick Look feature, and you can hit enter to open in the default app, or choose a different app to open the file in,” reports The Verge. QuickLook lets you zoom into documents and PDFs by holding down the control key and spinning your mouse wheel, and just like in macOS, you can switch between files by hitting the arrow keys. You can also choose which program you’d like to use to open different file types.
There aren’t too many customization options in QuickLook, but it does its job well, and it’s free to download from the Microsoft Store.

QuickLook brings Finder’s preview to Windows 10
I’m switching from a Mac to a PC with Windows 10. Is there anyway (either 1st party or 3rd party) to make the File Explorer in Windows 10 look like Finder’s column view in Mac OSX?
Windows 10 File Explorer looks like this:
MacOSX Finder column view looks like this:
I don’t like how Windows displays a mix of drop down menus (seen in the left column) and standard folders, and I don’t like how I can’t see all the folders and files in the directories above mine—only in the topmost directory (seen in the lefthand column). This makes it much slower to switch between folders in different subdirectories, especially when you don’t remember how many layers deep a file might be.
In contrast, with the Mac OSX Finder column view, all my directories at all levels are clearly visible in neat columns, and you can even enable it to show the path bar at the bottom, just like Windows shows at the top of the File Explorer.

Reach desired windows instantly
Finder Windows is floating in the Finder – or, if you choose, in all apps. Now you can always see the list of open folders and reach the desired one instantly.
You can also drag & drop files onto Finder Windows to copy/move them into the desired folders just like in the Finder.
Try it for yourself and see how Finder Windows makes the whole difference in simplifying your Finder operations.
Menu bar access
You can also access the interactive list of Finder windows from the menu bar in addition – or instead of – the floating panel.
