The Desktop Window Manager is experiencing heavy resource contention. Scenario: The Desktop Window Manager responsiveness has degraded. |
Desktop composition is performed by the Desktop Window Manager (DWM). Through desktop composition, DWM enables Windows Aero visual effects on the desktop in addition to various features such as glass window frames, 3-D window transition animations,
Windows Flip, Windows Flip3D, and high resolution support.
Windows Aero is the graphical user interface and the default theme in most editions of Windows Vista and Windows 7, operating systems. It is also available in Windows
Server 2008/R2, but is not enabled by default. Its name is an acronym for Authentic, Energetic,
Reflective, and Open. Intended to be a cleaner, more powerful, more efficient, and more aesthetically pleasing user interface than the previously used theme (Luna), it includes translucency, live thumbnails,
live icons, animations, and eye candy.
Cause
Event ID 500 is primarily caused by the over use of the graphics subsystem, which is controlled by the Desktop Window Manager (dwm.exe) process.
This could be related to the following issues:
- The graphical display device drivers may not be fully compatible with the Windows Display Driver Model.
- The Windows Aero feature may not function correctly if your computer resources are insufficient due to running a high number of background application.
User Action
Check with your graphical display manufacturer for updated device drivers to make sure that you are using device drivers that are certified by
Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL).
Run tools such as Task Manager, Process Explorer, and MSINFO32 to gather details about your system and to identify the applications and device drivers that you have installed. Check with your independent hardware vendor (IHV) to ensure
that you have the most up-to-date driver for your display adapter.

This particular configuration is with Coldfusion 11. There is no errors in newspapers and the w3 service still works as are application pools. All websites and app pools run with transmission of authentication request.
ColdFusion does not work with windows authentication and may be enforced as if reconfigured integrated instance to do this, if this isn’t a matter of colfusion.
Here is what I tried:
1 I created a new user account with admin rights and disconnected and logged in as them and then make changes to the password on the server, and that didn’t make a difference.
2. I checked that all Web sites using the request pass through authentication.
3. I checked that the application pool is also using the application-pass-through authentication.
4. I looked to find errors in which case newspapers but don’t see anything there either
5. I also searched a failure in coldfusion logs and saw no more relevant here either, but I got colfusion running without IIS in any case.
6. search of the roots of web for coded passwords hard and found nothing.
If you have any ideas or any ideas let me know.

VB6 DLL is not log messages in the Windows Server 2003 event log when it is called from an ASP page
Hi all
I have an ASP web application, I will create a «VBModule1» (VB6 Dll) instance of an ASP page and inside this method of «VBModule1» I create an instance of another VB6 Dll ‘VBLogger’, who calls App.LogEvent () to write messages to the event log.
I tested the Web application on the develepoment (XP) machine and everything worked fine but when the user runs the Web application on the Production Server (windows server 2003) events are not saved.
Friend missing the security settings of my ASP web app that needs to be configured on Windows Server 2003 for VB6 DLLs logging events?
Please think as soon as POSSIBLE.

HP Pavilion drivers Windows 7 500 — 070
I had to downgrade to Windows 7 on my 500-070 for many reasons (work) and now find myself without any wireless adapter drivers for the Ethernet adapter.
Can someone point me in the right direction for these drivers? Even the name/model of the wireless adapter and Ethernet adapter that comes standard with this model would be very useful.
Thank you!
Hello
HP does not recommend the downgrading of a 8 delivered PC Windows.
This driver Realtek WIndows 7should work for the integrated ethernet card.
The driver (Atheros) Qualcomm for the ARB5125should work.
Here are thespecificationsfor the HP PAvilion 500-070.
Error: wininit lsass.exe windows server restart, event ID: 1000, 1001, 1015, 6005, 6006
Hi everyone, I recently joined in a Banking Corporation as a leader of IT below support that I explained about an error that is impossible to fix.
This company is running windows server 2008 r2 standard 64 bit OS sp1.
HP proliant DL380 G7 intel xeon
system processor: intel xeon E5620
This company is facing this problem since April 2014 to cultivate the date, but the question not yet fixed because there is no COMPUTER administrator in this endeavour to maintain this server. So, in this company, I’m the only guy with COMPUTER knowledge and my management was waiting for me to fix this error and to run the server without any problem.
The last few months I’ve corrected several server issues related in this society as windows update, windows daily backup, SQL server backup, user permissions, disk space low and network troubleshooting and equipment computer issues etc…,
But come to this lsass.exe I am unable to solve this problem I tried many ways to research online, but not yet fixed. Below you will find the details.
*) fix for windows server 2008 R2 Standard sp1
After the failed to install installation
Fix for Windows (KB2545850)
*) Tried to use the system tool
But failed to solve problem
*) I tried this command at the command prompt
sfc/scannow
result
Full check of 100%.
Windows resource protection did not find any breach of integrity.
*) I also tried to change the registry of one of the web links of dell values, but there is no change at all.
http://www.Dell.com/support/article/us/en/19/SLN291309/en
*) I thought installing the fix and some other updates in safe mode only to try my luck, but when I tired to start the server in safe mode it takes a long time to start in it. But, I’ll try again if this issue is going to fix through safe mode then please advise me on this.
So to come back to this question, at the time of the restart, a small window will pop up as below.
Windows has encountered a critical problem and will restart automatically in a minute. Please save your work now.
*) I tried this in shutdown command prompt cmd — to stop this judgment but does not any.
*) I’ve tried many ways to solve this problem, but none of them worked for me even I tried to upgrade from sp1 to sp2 but could not do so for the following reason:
https://www.Microsoft.com/en-US/Download/details.aspx?ID=17669
After downloading the software from the link above and when I tried to install error appear below.
This service pack does not apply to the version of windows running on this computer.
It is the only question that is impossible to fix. So, I need expert help to resolve this issue as soon as POSSIBLE.
Note: I can not reinstall the operating system on this server because it runs many applications on the SQL 2008 database and also it is already configured with many services and I don’t really know how many applications do I need to take a backup and how to configure manually. so if I reinstall OS and if I’m bored configurations or settings and then it will be difficult for employees who work on these applications. So I don’t want to take the risk of doing as I said I am new to this company.
Additional information: this sever when ever it will pop up as server will restart in one minute then it restarts to 3 times without any gap, then after an interval extended from 3 to 4 hours, then it will follow even as I said above. To understand better, I’ll give you this good example: If the server restart to 09:00, then 2nd reboot will be at 09:02 and the 3rd reboot will be at 09:04 and then after 3 to 4 hours apart, as about 13:00 it restarts again for 3 times vice versa.
Even I understand that I have to reinstall the OS to fix this stupid problem which is like a nightmare for me, but right now, I can’t. So, please help me to solve this problem without reinstallation of server operating system.
I expect the best answer to my question that will solve my problem without any problem to this server.
Below the five examples are the main reason for my server restart. If you need anything that either more information please advice me I will answer according to your instructions.

The minidump files show constantly the csrss.exe process break with a BAD_POOL_HEADER stop error (19) referencing the win32k.sys.
It’s probably another pilot, a third-party driver that is causing the problem.
I would say, at this stage, to enable verifier against any non-Microsoft drivers to stress test them and try to eliminate a problematic driver:
Start > type check in the search programs and files, then press ‘Enter’ > create standard settings > next > select the names of the drivers in the list > select all non-Microsoft drivers > finish
Restart the computer.
Continue to use the computer normally but if you have any available BSOD brand minidump files.
If after the activation of the Verifier and restart the computer, you receive a BSOD on startup and cannot start Windows, restart the computer in «safe» mode, and follow these steps:
Start > type check in the search programs and files, then press ‘Enter’ > delete existing settings > finish
Restart the computer, log in Normal Mode and make available any resulting minidump file
I would also say, before you enable Driver Verifier, to download, install, update and run (quick scan should be sufficient) Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware (free version), in the case of McAfee missing something:

Guard judgment of Windows XP. Event Veiwer Watch: \Device\Harddisk0\D, has a bad block

Same thing happens in Safe Mode as well. I ran McAfee who reported no virus. I have auto-updated from Microsoft on and just installed the lates updates.
Help, please. Thank you… Nam
Speed stop?
Unexpected/unpredictable and quick stops are generally caused by overheating or bad RAM modules. This happens too fast to create an entry in the newspapers. Try downloading / running the freeware ‘CoreTemp’. It will show you how hot your CPU is getting and how close to maximum temperature, it is. If this is your problem, open your folder and check your fans to make sure they turn all. Use a can of compressed air to remove dust, because it can act like a blanket and heat your components.
To solve your problem of bad block, run «Chkdsk» with the ‘repair’ or ‘ / R ‘ option. This should clean up your bad block problem.

Help! Windows Device Trigger — event (Task Manager)
I’m doing a task, the trigger being that when a device is plugged in it will run the task
Here is where I am:
so far, I’ve done the «has started the task’, ‘on an event», that puts me to the next window now, this is where I can’t understand it, my guess is that the newspaper is MATERIAL (either that or system), so the real question is what newspaper, source and event id supposed to be. I know all about the unit (all properties) so just use tags thanks
Hi Noname459,
Your question is more complex than what is generally answered in the Microsoft Answers forums. It is better suited for Windows Vista on TechNet. Please post your question in the TechNet Windows Vista Forums.
Windows system error — event id 12 of HAL.
Hello
I use a PC HP Pavilion m8120n Media Center, which has been upgraded to Windows 7 Professional (32-bit) SP1.
Current BIOS is dated 5.09 Date 08/06/2007 revision.
In the Windows system log, I noticed that whenever the PC goes into sleep mode (standby), it generates a HAL error with event id 12. It says low memory was damaged when going in standby mode.
The Microsoft documentation says that it is a BIOS problem. I checked the site of HP support for a BIOS update, but found none listed. I noticed that HP offers some laptops BIOS updates to fix this.
Is there an update available for the m8120n BIOS solve this problem?
Kind regards
Rick
Hello
The problem has occurred with your previous operating system?
There is not an update of the bios posted for your PC.
You can read this article.
You can try to clear the CMOS memory. Given that your PC is of 5 years which is on the life expectancy of the CMOS battery, you might consider replacing it. It’s a $4 item.
The suggestion below is a long shot for a possible workaround if you ae not not using RAID. If you do want to try the suggestion below, then you will have to live with the question.
The default sata mode setting is RAID. If change you it to AHCI then the storage option rom cannot require CMOS space. You may need to reinstall the operating system. There is a possible workaround solution to reinstall the operation. Don’t forget to backup your data. Run the MS patch. Then boot in the bios (f10 setup) and change the sata controller to ACHI mode and save the settings. If the PC does not start, then change the setting back of the bios.

Hi Mkress,
Welcome!
You can get this error if Windows Error Reporting Service does not start, try to restart the service on the computer and check if the problem persists or not, follow the steps below to start the service:
1. click on start.
2 type Services in the start search.
3. look for Windows Error Reporting Service in the list.
4. right click on the Service.
5. click on properties.
6. set the Startup Type to automatic.
7 set the starting state.
8. click on apply.
9. click on OK.
Now restart the computer for the changes to the effect.
I would say that you do the check disk on the computer to find the bad sectors and disk related errors on the computer, follow these steps:
1. the procedure for chkdsk to run:
i. Click Start
II. type cmd in the start search box.
III. right-click on cmd.exe list programs and then select the run as Administrator option.
IV. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.
v. in the command prompt window, type the following command and press enter Chkdsk/r
Note: When you restart, Windows checks the drive for errors, and then Windows starts. Now, run the disk check in the command prompt.

features of Windows 7 pc Event Viewer
the other day, so that navigation event viewer and explore what all the tools in the toolbar, or the opening of subscriptions or it could be analytical see debug logs… ? and whatever it is, he did so as long I know a few years, he goes to a wink in error, this is not a loophole situation with some options that I have no idea of what they are, and Ctrl alt delete seems the quiet way only to deal with, like the other give windows options with an important collapse. Well well the other day, open the event viewer, I was greeted with a wink by mistake that covered several errors, I had no idea they were and started hitting the close button and the other options to will be and event viewer will stop. Now, I can get into the event viewer, but if I open or take place custom views. the screen flashes and then disappears from the event viewer, with no nada. Except if I go into Windows and applications logs and hit the properties of event I get this: log name: Application

is it a normal thing? can we see the coded message here, if there is one, how to fix this? Thank you
Understand and interpret the event viewer reports are not an easy task. In the link below some basic information on the use of event viewer are detailed, which you may find useful:
http://www.gerryscomputertips.co.UK/syserrors5.htm
You pasted an event ID: 0 report in your message and asked can we see the cipher here. As a user who has considered several reports, my answer is no. The reason for the report is obscure and like the event viewer reports that it’s probably simply reports for example, an event that something important has not been done. My experience tells me to go and find a larger report. If you have a problem with Adobe Reader search the application log.
The wording in the paragraph immediately below, commonly appears in many reports of the event viewer.
The description for event ID 0 in source Adobe Reader cannot be found. Either the component that triggers this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.
You probably won’t find any official explanation for why it happens. It is not generated universally and arises only on specific computers. It is obvious, because for some reports of the event ID, you can see two variants of the same report.
A report short event 20 as it should be:
Log name: System
Source: Microsoft-Windows-WindowsUpdateClient
Date: 03/01/2015-16:30:23
Event ID: 20
Level: error
Description:

An event report 20 abstract, showing the problem:

Description:
The description for the 20 from source Microsoft-Windows-WindowsUpdateClient event ID is not found. Either the component that triggers this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.
If the event is on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.
The following information has been included in the event:

Windows 7 system event Notification services error
Today, the screen was different and wa Windows 7 does not properly. I got this message «unable to connect to a windows service. Windows could not connect to the System Event Notification Services service. This problem prevents the limited number of users logging on to the system. As an administrator user you can view system event log to see why services did not respond. »
Other messages on this guy named Windows Vista. I use Windows 7. Can someone tell me please how to fix this?
Thank you
I have now managed to solve the problem by doing a system restore. He has really worked. Click Start, type system restore in the search box, click System Restore, and then click on «choose a different restore point. A date will go up which was the last restore point I guess and keep clicking next and follow the instructions. It can work for you. I would be interested to know how you go.

Event ID 500 in Win7, need new graphics card?
I see tons of Event 500’s in my Windows 7 x64 Event Viewer. It says «The Desktop Window Manager is experiencing heavy resource contention. Scenario: Video memory resources are over-utilized. Reducing number of running programs and open windows may help resolve this condition».
My system setup is fairly substantial (dual Xeon 5150 dual-core CPU’s, 16GB RAM), with the exception of the graphics card. I’m still on the same nVIDIA Quadro FX550 128MB graphics card that shipped with the system almost 3 years ago. The nVIDIA driver is the most current as of about 2 weeks ago.
Could this be why I’m seeing all these Event 500’s? Do I need to go to a 256 or 512MB workstation card? If so, I would probably go with an FX580 card.

Re: Event ID 500 in Win7, need new graphics card?
It does sound like you might need a new video card with more video RAM, but it’s also possible it could also just be a driver issue.
You recently went from XP to 7, correct? I’d suggest first disabling «Aero» in Windows (if you’re not sure how, just google it). Aero can make heavy use of the video card. See if that makes a difference.
Do you have Revit HWA on? That could also be causing problems. Between Aero and Revit, it may be too much for the card.
You have two displays running off the card? That’s a lot of pixels. You could try disconnecting a display to see if that helps.
However, sometimes in an office setting, it’s literally cheaper (billable time) to buy new hardware (and hope that fixes it) than trying to troubleshoot it.

Re: Event ID 500 in Win7, need new graphics card?
I have tried various flavors of stock Aero themes, Basic themes, and modified Aero themes (with various animations and other settings disabled).
I am running Revit with HWA turned on, but it hasn’t crashed yet in the ~3 weeks since I upgraded the system to 64-bit.

Re: Event ID 500 in Win7, need new graphics card?
So you have tried running it with Aero turned off and still got the error message? Additionally, have you tried turning HWA off as well and still got the error message?
The issue is that Aero and HWA are both using DX and potentially making heavy (relatively speaking to your card) use of the video card resources. With both Aero and HWA off, if you’re still getting the error message, that seems less likely a case of video RAM specifically.
That you’ve run Revit with HWA without crashing indicates that Revit is able to use the HWA (DX) features of the video card, not necessarily an indication of whether you have adequate video RAM.
Wish I could help more, but I’m out of suggestions. Hopefully someone else here has some ideas. Good luck!

Re: Event ID 500 in Win7, need new graphics card?
Well, I’ve only really paid attention to the event ID’s and messed with Aero and non-Aero themes yesterday and today. Yesterday I didn’t have any Event 500 or 501’s and I think I was on a non-Aero theme most of the day. Today I have been on Aero themes most of the time, but have been playing with different settings, and I’ve gotten 4 of those events today.

Desktop Window Manager is what enables all the aero theme stuff like transparency, and also what stores the contents of entire application windows in graphic RAM, thus allowing you to move windows around without getting blank white areas of apps that are too busy to refresh on demand (as you would in XP). The amount of graphic ram you need depends a lot on both how big your monitor(s) is, and how many open applications/windows you have. My guess is that with Aero on, two 19″ monitors and a bunch of open apps, 128Mb is getting pretty tight, but without a Graphics RAM monitoring tool it is hard to be really sure.I have tried using Riva Tuner to look at graphics RAM usage, but have had no luck figuring it out.
That said, given that most cards pair faster GPUs with more RAM, upgrading can make sense on both fronts, especially if you have 64 bit Windows 7 where there are no caveats with regards to the amount of graphic RAM. In a 64 bit world, more is better. If you know someone with a 256Mb card, I would install it and see if the errors go away, then switch back and see if they return. Ideally the card would be one that can use the same driver you have now so as to minimize the variables. Unless of course someone mentions a Resource Monitor that will track Graphics RAM usage, at which point you can just look and see. Hopefully someone has a recomendation there, because I think there is going to be a real need to upgrade graphics cards in the post Win 7 x64 world, and having some solid data to go on would be really nice.
Best,
Gordon
