Принесли мне однажды компьютер с напрочь забытым паролем. Ничего любимого офисными сотрудниками вроде «777» не подошло, а вот данные слезно просили сохранить и поэтому вариант переустановки windows явно не подходил.
Как оказалось, нет никаких проблем. Я на просторах интернета разыскал софт NTPassWD. Прямая ссылка для скачивания. Это загрузочный образ CD. Соответственно распаковываете архив, пишите образ на болванку и грузите компьютер с CD. Программа с убогим текстовым интерфейсом на языке вероятного противника. Но нам как говорится не пасьянс раскладывать, а минимальных знаний английского вполне достаточно, чтобы справиться. Суть работы программы в том, что вы выбираете необходимую учетную запись и сбрасываете ей пароль, при желании можно дать ей админские права. После чего можно спокойно загрузить windows.
Ну а теперь весь процесс в картинках 🙂

На этом экране достаточно просто нажать [Enter], или просто подождать несколько секунд.

на этом экране предлагается выбрать систему которую будем [лечить] (их у Вас на диске может быть несколько) в данном примере нужно выбрать «1»

на этом экране выбираем каталог windows где находятся все настройки, обычно все выглядит как на представленном рисунке, поэто просто жмем [Enter]

на данном экране нас интересует пунк «1», то есть сброс пароля, вот его и выбираем

опять же выбираем пункт «1» изменить пароль

теперь чуть подумать надо, ибо начинается самое интересное, тупа жать [Enter] уже не прокатит :-). На этом экране необходимо выбрать пользователя, кому будем сбрасывать пароль, введя его RID. Вводить надо в формате «0xRID», к примеру для моего пользователя XPMUser надо ввести 0x03EB. И никак иначе! Правда автор предлагает и второй вариант просто ввести имя пользователя.

Пожалуй самое главное. На этом экране можно сбросить (обнулить, сделать пустым) пароль пользователя (пункт 1), дать права администратора (пунк 3), разблокировать (пункт 4). В нашем случае жмём 1.

Ну собственно финал истории password cleared! Экран аналогичен предыдущему (рис 7) и если ничего больше не надо (права администратора) то можно смело жать [q] и выходить из программы. После чего перегружаем компьютер, не забывая вытащить наш CD из привода. И заходим в windows с именем пользователя которому сбросили пароль, соответственно с пустым паролем.

Way 1. Using Another account
Cracking Windows 2000 Server Admin password is not that easy, but using a few tricks and general installation methods, one can achieve the cracking. User can regain access to their previous Windows 2000 by installing windows to another account/partition.
Step 1: First, you need to go to the Boot Menu of your computer and backup the Master Boot Record (MBR) file. For this, there are no default windows tools available, but you can use third-party tools for that. Or you can press Shift+F10 and type bootrec /fixmbr Option to restore windows easily.
Step 2: Install a fresh copy of Windows 2000 Server on a different disk partition and format the partition using the same custom parameters.
Step 3: Now, log in as an administrator to install windows server 2000 on your computer. Now you have the same privileges as writing in the previous Windows OS.
Way 2. Deleting SAM Hive
When we are being asked for our account password for a Windows computer, the password database file is SAM for all the Operating Systems, including Windows 2000 Admin. The SAM file route is WINNT\system32\Config\ and would be checked against our SAM file to confirm whether we have the right access ID and Password to use our computer.
Crack the windows 2000 server administrator password or how to delete the SAM file, and reset the Windows password? There are two ways these options can be useful:
Option 1: If you have two Windows operating systems on your computer and want to transfer one of them without losing any accounts but are unable to access the drive at the config file, delete the SAM file from that drive by following the steps:
Step 1: Change to the /systemroot/System32/Config folder at the command prompt.
Step 2: To rename the SAM, enter ren sam to sam.old, or simply delete it.
Step 3: Now Restart the System.
Step 4: Enter the Administrator account without a password at the Windows 2000 logon prompt as you already deleted it.
Step 5: Now, you have access to the lost or previous Windows 2000 account. You can change the password now.
Option 2: Move the disk to another PC to delete the SAM file
After deleting the SAM file, reboot your computer and reset the administrator password. The administrator account is now home. You can login as an administrator without having to enter your password after you reboot into Windows NT.
Way 3. Reinstalling OS
Reinstalling Windows 2000 or crack windows 2000 server administrator password while retaining your program and customization settings is as simple as this, follow the steps below:
This guide/method will show you how to reinstall Windows 2000 without losing your program or customization settings.
Step 1: Use the account with the required permissions to boot the system. Backup Windows 2000 folder, Documents, and Settings folders.
Step 2: Start Setup to install Windows 2000 to a new folder or the original location. Do not forget to enter the Administrator password that you created during Setup.
Step 3: Start Backup after installation. Click Next to open the Restore Wizard. Click Import File in the Restore Wizard dialogue. Find the backup file you saved in step 1 and then restore it. Remember to move Windows 2000 files to a different folder.
Step 4: Once the restoration is completed, log in with your Administrator password to restart your system. Next, verify that your applications are running correctly.
Way 4. Using Netplwiz
Resetting Windows 2000 Login Password with Netplwiz is easy to follow; we will share basic steps to do so:
Step 1: To open User accounts, press Windows Keys + R. Type netplwiz then hit Enter.
Step 2: Click to mark ” Users need to enter a username & password to use this computer”. Next, select the account you wish to reset your password for and click on Reset Password.
Note: This method won’t allow you to reset your administrator password.
Step 3: Next, enter a new password. Then click OK.
Step 4: This Resetting Your Password in Windows 2000 with netplwiz, but if you are unable to access your account, you can use our tool UnlockGo (Windows Recovery).

Reset Windows NT 4.0 & Windows 2000 Administrator or Domain Admin Password with LOGON.SCR Trick
To change reset the local administrator’s password on Windows NT and Windows 2000 (only on some versions, so you have to try your luck), or domain admin password on a Domain Controller (DC) running on Windows NT or Windows 2000, follow these steps:
- Logon or login to the Windows computer with any user account.
- Navigate to %systemroot%\System32 in Windows Explorer. %systemroot% is your Windows installation folder, and normally located in \WINNT or \Windows (i.e. \WINNT\System32).
- Save a copy of LOGON.SCR file, or simply rename the logon.scr file to something else. Just make sure that you remember where and what name is the backup copy.
- Delete the original LOGON.SCR from the %systemroot%\System32 sub-folder after you have backed it up. The file should no longer exist if you rename it.
If you having problem to delete or rename LOGON.SCR, it may be due to permission settings. Try to take ownership of the LOGON.SCR (by right clicking on LOGON.SCR, then select Properties and go to the Security tab, then click on the Ownership. Click “Take Ownership” and then click Yes to the prompt message.), and give the Everyone group Full Control permissions (by right clicking on LOGON.SCR then select Properties, then go to Security tabs. Click on Add and browse to and add the Everyone group. Give Everyone Full Control and then click on OK.) You may need to install an alternate second copy of Windows on the machine to do so as detailed at the end of this article.
- Copy and paste the CMD.EXE located in %systemroot%\System32 to create additional copy of CMD.EXE in the same directory, then rename the new copied file as LOGON.SCR. This will let the Windows NT or Windows 2000 to use CMD.EXE command prompt program as the screen saver that will be activated after computer idle for specific minutes.
- Ensure that you activate the screen saver of the Windows.
- Wait for the computer screen saver activation idle wait time timeout, so that Windows will load the unprotected DOS command prompt in the context of the local system account as if it’s the screen saver.
- In the CMD command prompt that is opened, key in the following command to reset and change the administrator’s password:
net user administrator newpassword
And the user account for administrator will have the new password of newpassword (which you should change to your own password). With the syntax of net use user_name new_password, it can be used to reset or modify the password of other administrative user account’s passwords.
- You can now log on to the administrator account with the new password. You may want to replace back the original LOGON.SCR that has been backed up or renamed.
- You may want to delete the alternate installation of Windows, by deleting the installation folder or format the partition (if you install in different partition), and removing the second Windows entry in BOOT.INI file at the root. Use attrib -r -s -h c:\boot.ini to change and allow the boot.ini to be modified and viewed.
Unless you’re using Windows NT 4.0 computers that were installed out-of-the-box that set the NT’s default permissions for Everyone to Full Control, you most likely will have problem to rename, change or delete the files located in \Winnt\System32 or \Windows\System32 folders if you log in as the non administrative regular user, as regular user cannot manipulate the files’ permissions.
In this case, install an alternate second copy or Windows NT or Windows 2000 (make sure it’s the same version with the existing OS which you have forget the password installed), and the new install of Windows must be installed in different directory/folder from the existing Windows, which usually located in \WinNT or \Windows, or install the new Windows on another partition or drive. Alternatively, you can take out the hard drive (where you lost the admin password) and place or install it as a slave on another computer with any OS such as Windows XP or Windows 2000 installed. The purpose is to access the %systemroot%\System32 of the OS that you have lost or forgot the administrator password, and does the modification specified above.
After installing the alternate copy of Windows, or install the hard disk as the slave disk to another Windows in a computer, boot up the system with the alternate Windows. If you install the second copy of Windows on the same machine, go to Control Panel -> System -> Startup (NT) or Control Panel -> System -> Advanced -> Startup and Recovery (W2K) and change the default boot instance back to your original instance of Windows. Then follow the step 2 to 4 above. After done, reboot and restart the system and bootup to the original instance of Windows (if you take up the hard disk to another machine, now put it back to the original computer), and continue the rest of steps from step 5 onwards.
Update: reset or retrieve Windows admin or user account passwords.
