    LWARD, Yes I have tried Vista and  XP drivers unfortunately I believe those user were successful using that driver  With Windows 7/8 not 10

    Dude, we have a HP T790 designjet plotter. Following the upgrade to Win 10, it appeared the printer driver didn’t work, the printer was showing up and everything, the console was there if you double clicked the device everything was in place.. but it didn’t work immediately . to get it work all we had to do was:

    • double click the printer
    • open printing preferences
    • Under features tab, we tickled the Quick sets drop down between CAD and factory default.. didn;t even need to change and apply the setting, but as soon as we did that it worked!!!

    I used to fight with one of those things with Windows 7. The Vista driver should work with Windows 10, but make sure you use the HP/GL-2 driver as opposed to the PostScript driver. Then also be sure to have the correct options listed in the driver.

    Your best option is to just unpack the exe file from the HP site using 7-Zip and install the driver by pointing to the correct folder with the inf file.

    For those members with an HP T790 DesignJet, we want to clarify that although there is no HP Windows 10 driver available for the HP DesignJet 1055CM, there is a full feature HP Windows 10 driver available for the HP T790

    Thank you for your feedback. Our system shows the following product cycle for the HP DesignJet 1055cm
    plotter:
    Introduction Date: 1 August 2001
    WW Obsolescence Date: 30 November 2009
    End Of Support Date: 30 April 2015

    Some HP computer products are supported for 5 years. However, you will notice
    that the HP DesignJet 1055cm plotter was supported for 14 years, which
    clearly shows HP commitment to this plotter.

    Our consultant shared that the HP DesignJet 1055cm plotter works under Windows
    7 and 8 using the Windows
    Vista or XP driver, which you can easily download from HP support web page.
    Also Microsoft Windows Server 2008 drivers are available. The plotter will not
    work on Windows 10 using Vista driver because it is an entirely different
    operating system.

    The consultant also emphasizes that it is very important to check
    thoroughly compatibility of all applications and hardware and the availability of drivers
    ahead of the operating system upgrade.

    A
    review of the HP DesignJet 1050c plotter shows other
    challenges that are or maybe encountered. See this excerpt:
    «Usability Concerns.
    Since the HP 1050c is almost 15 years old, the technology is nowhere cutting
    edge. Users can expect to have certain issues when printing from newer
    applications.
    • The onboard processor is not capable of handling the complexities of some
    larger, more modern files produced some applications such as Revit, ESRI GIS,
    etc.
    • Large files can crash the 1050 plotter and force the user to reboot.
    • The HP 1050c plotter is extremely slow by today’s standards.»

    Note also that HP DesignJet 1055cm resolution is low compared to current
    plotters.

    If a product is working very well, I am reluctant to recommend a replacement.
    However, in this case we will be happy to provide recommendations.

    Personally, I see it as an «extended support fee», but one that goes to a different company.

    Still cheaper than replacing the plotter, right?

    Hello @ITMAN10000, thanks for your reply.  The price tag for a driver does seem high.  However, you may want to share with your team that when the product was released in 2001 the cost was almost $11,000.  Additionally, googling shows that one company is offering a refurbished HP 1055cm for $10,995.  Given this the $199 price tag may now seem reasonable.

    I agree with @Big Green Man that one can consider the price as «extended support fee» and the driver fee is a lot «cheaper than replacing the plotter.»  Thank you very much, @Big Green Man.  A check on the HP Store does prove this.  Click here Opens a new window for the list of HP plotters currently on the HP price list.

    You will also see on the HP Store plotter webpage that there is currently an upgrade program that allows customers to turn in their old plotters and purchase a new plotter.  The discount can be significant.   I did see your plotter on the eligibility list.  Click here Opens a new window for details.
