Here is how you can get the new emoji from Windows 11 build 22478 in Windows 10 and Windows 11 stable builds. Starting in Dev build 22478, Microsoft introduced a set of new emoticon, which are more colorful and fancy. If you don’t want to go with an unstable pre-release builds, you can install new emoji right now.
Microsoft introduced the current emoji in Windows, Office, and other products about 10 years ago. They are made in 2D style, which perfectly fit into the concept of the Metro interface that the company was implementing at that time. But since then, a lot of time has passed. Metro has been replaced by Fluent Design, so the company has updated emoticons.
Here’s how they look.
However, they only appear in the latest Dev build of Windows 11. The stable builds of Windows 11 and Windows 10 still packed with the old set of emoticons.

Luckily, it is easy to get the newest emoji in both Windows 11 and Windows 10. All you need to do is to update the emoji font to version 1.32.
- Download this font file. It is TTF file of 3MB.
- Double-click it in File Explorer and see the font version. It must say 1.32.
- Now, click the Install button in the font preview dialog.
- Finally, restart all apps you want to use the new emoji set.
- Press Win + . or open the touch panel and click on the emoji button. You now have new emoji.
You are done.
Note that not all Windows apps support emoji properly. For example, the built-in text editors, Notepad and Wordpad, only render black-and-white emoji, and don’t support the colorful ones. Use something like your web browser or Windows Mail app to see how the new emoji look in documents and conversations.
Note that the new emoji font will be installed per-user. This means that only your user account can use them. To make them available for all users, the font must be located in the c:\windows\fonts folder. I don’t advise you to install it there and overwrite the existing file. Otherwise it will be harder to get rid of the new emoji, just in case.
Here is how you can go back to the built-in emoticons of Windows 10 or Windows 11.
Restore default emoji
- Press Win + I to open the Settings app.
- Navigate to Personalization > Fonts.
- Find the Emoji font in the list of installed fonts and click it.
- On the next page, click the Uninstall button.
This will restore your default emoji set on Windows 10 and Windows 11.

A Differing Opinion … HIGHLY RECOMMENDING This APP!!

I’m actually rewriting my original review of “inTextMojiPro”, which is not something I would typically do. However, the Company’s Customer Support went above and beyond what “we” as “Users” are generally experiencing (and accept ) as a whole when needing help from an App’s Developer / Company. Having had some confusion on my part distinguishing (2) different App Developers for this app’s, inTextMojiPro, being one of them, they were nothing but extremely expeditious in their reply to my request for assistance, as well as helpful to help me clarify their App from the other (this app GmbH). Fact was, the other I just mentioned was going to apply a monthly Fee of $9.99 for use‼️‼️‼️ AND, as I am completely certain ~~~ None of us as Users would be anywhere close to happy to pay that kind of a monthly subscription Fee for this app use!!! Notwithstanding, that the total package of Emojis & Stickers “inTextMojiPro” provides FOC (Free of Charge) for use across several varieties of platforms is phenomenally the best and most inclusive I’ve seen & used. Theirs is by far an AWESOME Product with SUPERIOR Customer Service, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this App!!!

A pirates life for me?

Aye, I’m not one to write reviews or make a fuss. I don’t send my food back at restaurants, nor do I think I should be afforded any sort of special treatment in life and my dealings with others. However, I find AT THIS JUNCTURE, not to speak is as great an injustice as that committed by the developers of this app. That being said, the absence of any pirate emojis is completely unacceptable. As someone who identifies as a pirate, on the inside, through and through, I find it egregious that I, and my fellow nautical brethren are disenfranchised to this degree. Not even a pirate hat? A hook hand? Not even a treasure chest full of booty. Argh even the thought of it now sends a wee shiver down mine sea weathered spine.
If the developers of this software have any humanity….any at all, they will remedy this issue at once, post haste. Apologies abound for my somewhat harsh tone, but again, I am a pirate. On the inside. Through and through. Does that not make me a PERSON????? I shall patiently wait, that one day my children, and my children’s children know that their parents fought from port to starboard, to make a better world for us folk. I wouldn’t expect land lubbers to get it, but I hope that in this situation, common sense will prevail!!! Argh! -
Emoji keyboard great but lacking…

I have had the this app keyboard for several year now, and it is just wonderful to add a little “extra” to messages whether it’s between friends or on social media. I really like the new updates where you have the option on little people to change hair and skin color; however, there is a downfall in this update. There is absolutely no red headed “ginger” options. I would hate for all my ginger friends to feel left out because their hair color and skin complexion are not an option. Some may even say it’s a little biased. I hope you take this on a more serious note and in a future updates try to include the less fortunate gingers so that they feel more accepted. NO GINGER LEFT BEHIND!! ✊🏼

Questionable safety

In order to use this keyboard and its emojis, you have to «grant full access» to the developer. In my initial review I was incensed at what I saw as a blatant violation of privacy because the pop up granting full access states that it allows the developer to view all of your texts past, present, and future. The developer contacted me and explained that this is not the case, that they can’t access our texts, and that the warning is the same for all keyboard apps. The emojis on their keyboard are great and I would like to take their word that this is not spyware, but I’ve dealt with identity theft before and I can’t simply take their word for it. I am giving this app a 3 because I am balancing what would have otherwise been a 5 with the fact that until I see evidence that it’s safe, I had to delete it.
