How to Setup Chromecast for Windows 10
How to Setup Chromecast on Windows 10? After Download Chromecast you can, before it you need to know about setup chromecast. See list in below.
- A display device with an HDMI input, for example, a high-definition television (HDTV)
- Access to an available power outlet or an available (non-service) USB port on your HDMI-enabled display
- Access to a secure wireless network (make sure you have the wireless network password handy)
- For Chromecast (1st generation), connection to a Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n 2.4G network. For Chromecast, connection to a Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac 2.4/5G network.
- A compatible Android or iOS device or tablet, or Mac, Windows or Chromebook computer. Note: The compatible Android, iOS, or tablet setup device must support a 5GHz connection in order to set up a Chromecast on a 5GHz connection.
- Availability and performance of certain features, services and applications are device- and network-dependent and may not be available in all areas; subscription(s) may be required, and additional terms, conditions and/or charges may apply.
This setup can use for 2 Chromecast device: Chromecast 1st Generation or Chromecast Ultra. Then follow me step by step this. (you must use Chrome Browser, not other browser)
Setup Chromecast 1st Generation and Chromecast Ultra
- You must using the latest version of Chrome by navigating to “Settings > About Google Chrome” and Update your Chrome browser to the latest version.
- Click set up your chromecast using this computer.
- Chrome will now look for Chromecast devices that need to be set up.
- Click the device that matches the Chromecast name you see on your TV. It will be something like ChromecastXXXX. Click Set Me Up.
- Setup will try to automatically connect to the Wi-Fi hotspot produced by your Chromecast device. If this is successful, move to step 8.
If this is not successful, you will asked to manually connect to the Wi-Fi hotspot of your Chromecast device. To do this, go to your Wi-Fi menu and select the Wi-Fi network that matches your Chromecast device name.
Note: Make sure you’ve successfully connected to the Wi-Fi hotspot before moving to the next step. This can take a few minutes. Note: You’ll lose your Internet connection for few minutes until setup is complete. This is expected. - Click Next.
- The code on your device should match the code on your TV. If it does, click Yes.
If it doesn’t match, click No and restart the setup process from step 5 above. - Change the name of your Chromecast by typing in a new name (ex. Living Room) or you can leave it as the default name. Choose your country. Click Looks Good.
- Choose your Wi-Fi network by clicking the upside down arrow. Enter your password. Click Connect.
- Setup will try to automatically connect to your Wi-Fi network. If this is successful, move to step 13.
If this is not successful, go back to your Wi-Fi menu and choose the same Wi-Fi network you picked in step 10.
Note: Make sure you’ve successfully connected to the Wi-Fi network before moving on to the next step. This can take a few minutes. - Click Next.
- Once setup has successfully completed, you will see a list of all of your available Cast devices.
- Your Chromecast is now ready to cast.

How to Set up Chromecast on Windows 10?
Step 1: Plug the Chromecast device into TV.
- The Chromecast comes with a power cable. Connect it and its power cable.
- Plug the HDMI end of Chromecast device into the HDMI port of your Home TV.
- Plug its power cable into a USB port. If your TV lacks a USB port, you can use a power adapter (not included) and plug it into the wall instead.
Step 2: Use the Remote Control of your Television to change the Source input of your TV to the HDMI port into which the Chromecast device is plugged into.
Step 3: Connect your computer to the Wi-Fi network you intend to use for streaming content.
Step 4: Connect the Chromecast to the same Wi-Fi network used by your computer.
- Open the Chrome browser on your computer and visit com/setup.
- Follow the prompt to download Chromecast for PC.
- Double-click the file you just downloaded to install and launch the Chromecast app.
- Both your TV and your computer will display a randomized Chromecast code. Ensure that the two codes match, then click “That’s My Code.”
- On your computer, enter your Wi-Fi network’s password, and then name your Chromecast if you like.
Step 5: Once you connect the Chromecast to Wi-Fi, you are propmted to get the Google Cast extension. Just follow the link to download the Google Cast extension. This will allow you to broadcast content from your computer to your TV via Chromecast.
If you want to cast videos or movies from computer to TV, you just need to open the Chrome Browser on your computer and find the video or movie on YouTube, Netflix or other Chrome Compatible websites, then click on the Cast Icon located at the top right corner of your computer as the video starts playing on your computer.
The video will be displayed on both the computer and the TV, but you can only hear the sound on the TV. Sounds from other tabs and apps will still play on the computer. In this way, you can enjoy your movies without disturbance.

All that is required to use Google Chromecast on a Windows computer is to plug the Chromecast device to your Home TV and Setup Chromecast by using Google Home App installed on a mobile device.
Once the setup process is completed, you will be able to cast videos, movies and TV programs playing on your computer on to the large screen of your Home Television.
Step #1. Plug Chromecast Device to Computer
The first step is to plug the HDMI end of the Chromecast device to the HDMI port of the TV.
1. Plug the HDMI end of Google Chromecast device into the HDMI port of your Home TV and plug the USB end to the USB power adapter.
2. Next, use the Remote Control of your Television to change the Source input of your TV to the right HDMI port into which the Chromecast device is plugged in.
Note: On most Remote Controls you will be required to press “Input” or the “Source” button and select the HDMI port into which the Chromecast device is plugged-in (HDMI 1, HDMI 2…)
Step #2. Setup Chromecast Using Google Home App
Now you are done with Setting up the Chromecast device on your Television. The next step is to setup Chromecast on your Windows 10 Computer by following the next steps as listed below.
The next step is to complete the Chromecast setup process using Google Home App, installed on any mobile device.
1. Download Google Home App on your Android Phone from Google Play Store. If you are using an iPhone, download Google Home App from the App Store.
2. Once the App is downloaded, tap on the Install option and follow the instructions to complete the Installation process.
3. Open Google Home App > tap on Get Started button > on the next screen, select your Google Account and Agree to terms and conditions by tapping on I Agree.
4. If prompted, allow Google Home to use your WiFi and Bluetooth Networks by tapping on the Allow option.
5. On Choose a Home screen, select an existing Home or Create/Add Another Home and tap on Next.
Note: If you select Add Home option, you will be prompted to type Name for your Home and tap on Next.
6. Wait for the Home App to locate your Chromecast device. Once that is done, tap on the Yes button.
7. You should now see a Code, both on Phone & TV screen. If the Code on Phone matches with that on TV, tap on the Yes button.
8. On the next screen, select a Location for your Chromecast Device and tap on Next.
9. On Connect to WiFi screen, select your WiFi Network and tap on Next.
10. Enter the Password for your WiFi Network, tap on Connect and follow the next instructions to complete the setup process
After completing above steps, you are ready to project YouTube Videos, Netflix Movies and other media playing on any mobile device or Windows 10/11 computer connected to the same WiFi Network.
Step #3. Project Media from Windows Computer to TV
Once the Chromecast Device is setup and connected to your WiFi network, it will be able to recognize all your mobile devices and computers connected to the same WiFi network.
To project media from computer to TV, open YouTube video or Netflix movie that you want watch on your computer and tap/click on the Cast Icon that appears on the video.
Once you click/tap on the Cast Icon, you will find the video/movie playing on the screen of your Home Television.
After the video/movie starts playing on TV, you are free to use any other apps on your computer. The video/movie will continue to play on the TV screen, even if the computer goes to sleep.
