ASUS laptops are very popular with users because they offer good value for money. One of the most popular models is the X554L, and today we want to talk about the methods of getting drivers for it.
The software for the device in question can be obtained by various methods, ranging from downloading from the official website to installation via Windows Device Manager. Each option is good in its own way in different circumstances, so we recommend that you read them all and choose the solution that suits your particular situation.
Method 1: Provider Support Resource
The easiest way is to find the drivers for a specific device on the manufacturer’s website: in this case, the reliability and compatibility of the software and hardware are guaranteed.
Go to the ASUS website
- Open the resource via the suggested link and then use its menu: hover the mouse over the «Tools» option and click with the left mouse button on the option «Support»..
- Then use the search input field: you must enter the model number in question in it. As you can see, the X554L is not a single device, but a whole range of models. The set of components (and consequently the drivers available) is different in each of the laptops, so you have to choose a specific model. If you do not know the exact specification of your device model, please use the methods in the following manual.

- The support page for the selected laptop opens. Open the corresponding section «Drivers and Utilities»..
- You will have to select the processor that is installed in your laptop. The following guide will help you to do so.

- The software list will load. Select the desired items and load the components one by one using the «Download»..
Then simply install the drivers one at a time, remembering to restart the laptop after each installation.
Method 2: ASUS Live Update
Most ASUS laptops with Windows pre-installed have a built-in utility from the manufacturer, ASUS Live Update, which is designed to update or install missing drivers. It’s easy to use — even a novice user should be able to handle it.
Keep in mind. In March 2019, there was a precedent for the update utility hacking: malware spread under the guise of drivers! As of this writing, the issue has been resolved, but just in case, we recommend checking the messages on the manufacturer’s website regularly.

Method 3: Universal DriverPack
A slightly less secure option for installing drivers is to use a universal driverpack solution — a special program that duplicates the functionality of ASUS ‘proprietary utility. There are quite a few such apps, the best of which we’ve briefly reviewed already.

Method 4: Component IDs
Both PC and laptop components have a specific code that the system uses to identify them. This code is useful when looking for drivers: there are special services where you have to enter the ID of a certain device to get a list of drivers for it.
