Question
VIAtech VT1828S HD-Audio Chipset.
The Asus P7P55D mainboard series use this chipset, but Win8 x64 dont configure correctly all High Definition Audio Devices as in Win7 x64, and those audio drivers arn’t compatible.
Actually, ASUS and VIATech say nothing about next driver release, but if you know how can we do for solving, you’re welcome.

I’ve seen you recommend that on more than one thread, the fundamental reason, that I can think of, is that you want only the basic drivers installed and not the attached software that may conflict with Windows own. Or is it something else?
I meant to enquire about your suggestion ‘Extract them and install them with the device manager and not with a setup’.

what to do in the case when a device doesn’t show up in the Device Manager for lack of even an inadequate driver? Do we then install whatever driver we have so that the device at least shows up in the Device Manager and later update it using the extract method to get better results?

this bit of info is going to be very useful indeed. At least you can select ANY item in the list of installed devices, and then click Add Legacy Hardware on the Action menu. This absolves you of having the device seen in the Device Manager.
Obviously using from extracted files (no setup), but its impossible to configure all of VT1828S functions (Mix, Loud, Rec). Recently Asus told us knowning that problem and maybe solver in the next driver release. In other words, its the same as old P5AD2E trouble, when moving from WinServer2K3 to WinServer2K8. We are waiting.
