Can’t own/buy this app — pay monthly
By GadgetMojo (Pcmac user)
With so many great painting apps out there that you can actually *buy* it always amazes me how these subscription apps stay in business. This app costs $12 per month, every month. It’s like you’re automatically buying a new app every month. Just do the math, how many subscription apps can you afford? Say you subscribe to 5 apps at $10, that’s $50 per month! If that’s your spending limit that means you can’t buy any more new apps unless you stop subscription to one of the existing apps. But then you lose that app. All the money you paid them — gone! Subscription model for apps just doesn’t work for the consumers. I will only subscribe to services or content providers. But subscribe to a product? Never. Put a price on it. $50, $80, whatever, if it’s worth it we’ll buy it. But the subscription model “hides” the costs making it seem less expensive. Well let me “unhide” it. If you use this app for 5 years you will pay $400. And even then if you stop paying you lose it. Does it worth it? It might be to some people. I buy a lot of music apps, if even 10% of them were subscription based I would be paying $1,000 each month.
Some of the painting apps I *bought* and enjoy are: Procreate, Affinity Photo, SketchBook (before it went free). If they make the next version of these apps, I’ll happily pay again. But when I’m ready. Not automatically. I want to be in control of my spendings. This month I’m dropping $100 on apps next few months could be zero.

Must Have software for designers
By mikaelaAnnSmith (Pcmac user)
This software was one of the major reasons I was willing to purchase my iPad Pro. The more functionality I can get out of a single product, the better and being able to use my iPad as a graphics tablet was HUGE. And it’s not just a crummy, I guess your to cheap or lazy to purchase the real thing style replacement. With the Apple Pencil, this app works great and I feel zero regret letting go of the graphics tablet I’ve been using. It’s been an upgrade.
However, I only gave this app four stars because I’ve had some issues with connection and stability with the app. I can’t use the device without it being connected via usb because there’s is too much lag and disconnecting over WiFi.
The other major reason I’ve considered dropping the app, at least the studio version is that it is a little pricey. I really wish there was an option to just buy the app up front. Tbh, I’d ne happy to pay $80 for this app up front if it was just a one time purchase. Im still one the fence because I definitely need and appreciate the options that the come with the Studio version, and I honestly don’t think the app Standard would be a useable alternative for me.

Perfect tool for professional photo editing!
By LifeLoveBlog (Pcmac user)
I typically edit my photos with a connected Wacom Intuos Pro tablet, but it makes for a larger setup. When I came across this app Pro, I had to try it. Seriously, it has been a game changer for me to be able to use my iPad Pro with Pencil anywhere in my space. I have had zero issues with lag so far and the interface is super easy to navigate. I’m able to finish up my client work so much quicker with this app and can not recommend it enough! (It’s really nice to take a break from sitting at my desk 100% of the time and the app allows for this.)
Also: For all of the people complaining about costs, I personally think it’s worth it (if you’re a full-time professional doing client work, like myself).

Serious question
By jior design (Pcmac user)
I tried the software out a month back and liked it. I was ready to go all in with the full professional version until reading a review complaining that this is heading in the «abandonware» direction. Is this true? Are you guys kick-starting a full product from the hardware up and putting the «this app» project on the back burner?… That would be disappointing, especially since you guys have something great here. Being able to use my iPad pro as a graphic tablet is much more satisfying than going out and purchasing another piece of hardware for the sole purpose of design. I hope this is not the case as I was excited to subscribe.
Astropad Studio?

Astropad released a free public beta of the Windows version of its software that turns an iPad into a second screen for a laptop or desktop. With the beta, users can test out mirroring their favorite apps on the tablet, including using an Apple Pencil to draw in Windows software. “Windows support has been our top product feature request since we originally launched Luna Display for Mac in 2017,” said Astropad. “After years of being a Mac-focused company, we are thrilled to finally bring our products cross-platform.” The iPad functions as a second screen for the PC, not a drawing pad, so there are no limits on the Windows applications supported. That includes Photoshop, Illustrator, Blender, ZBrush and many more. And Astropad Studio adds a sidebar that lets users quickly access their favorite shortcuts. No hardware is required. The two computers just need to be on the same Wi-Fi network or connected by USB. The connection runs at 60 frames per second. To see it in action, watch a video demonstration:
To download Astropad Studio for Windows, visit the Astropad website. But be aware, the application is free only during the beta period. Afterward, Windows support will require the existing Astropad Standard ($29)
or Studio ($79.99 per year). Future versions will offer more features, like customizable shortcuts. And support is coming for a new version of the Luna Display connectivity dongle that will reduce latency to 16ms.

The best graphics tablet is now compatible with Windows! Oh My Creatives! I think this is the coolest thing I’ve discovered this year! So today started out on a sad note when I realized that my workhorse of drawing tablet, the old faithful Wacom Intuos graphics tablet that has been my best friend for 16 years, traveled across the globe with me and back again was not connecting anymore. So I spent the day adjusting and learning to do as much as I could directly on Adobe Illustrator on the iPad which has definitely improved of late and making notes to myself on what needs to be finished on the computer with just a mouse to get me through until I decide on a new graphics tablet.
After a little late night researching and writing my own pros and cons list — in fact I even wrote an article Wacom vs iPad for Adobe Illustrator to try and help me decide — I stumbled upon this absolute gem of software. I cannot believe this has stayed hidden from me for so long! That is why I am sharing this with you, this might just be the thing you didn’t know you needed but it will make my life so much easier!
If you’re a digital artist, you know the importance of having a professional drawing tablet and the costs. In this article, we’ll delve into what this update means for digital artists and why Astropad Studio is worth checking out.

It creates a smooth and intuitive experience, allowing you to use your iPad Air as a drawing tablet with Adobe Illustrator on your computer.
